Question Questions re: skill points and retraining

I am a little confused about the whole skill point thing. What is the benefit to retraining skills and what do you do with the skill points? It sounds expensive from what I have read. Also was wondering what the little bubbles are around each of the skills? On my skills many of them have 1 bubble on the left, others when I clicked on them went up to higher levels, but I don't know what any of that means. I would assume that the more bubbles the higher their effect, but I could be wrong. Sorry, if this is covered somewhere else... I looked and didn't find any other links to answer this.

Skill points are used to unlock special skills that each weapon has. Like the voodoo doll for instance once you level 20 on your doll you get life drain, you must put a skill point in it to be able to use it. The bubbles on the bottom indicates the rank that it is, the more skill points are in it, the stronger the skill becomes. Skill retraining allows you to basically start over with skill points, so if you mastered a certain weapon and messed up on where you put a skill point (such as taunt on cutlass or something) you can remove it from there and place it in another skill.
Hope that helps.

As one develops thier pirate and assigns skill points to the various skills/abilities/powers.

They often make decisions they would prefer to later change in thier distribution of skill points.

The retraining allows you to remove all your skill points, and reassign them as preferred at that particular moment in time.

Yes, the smaller bubbles, or dots to avoid confusion, indicate the how many points you've put into that particular skill. The more points, or dots, the stronger that skill is with a maximum of 5 points per skill.

You can hold your cursor over the bubble, without clicking, and it will tell you what that skill is, and how much clicking on it to add a point would increase the strength of that skill.

You earn 1 skill point each time you advance a level on your weapon. Moving from cutlass level 1 to cutlass level 2 earns you one skill point to be assigned to a skill.

When you're in the game, and type k, it opens your skills. In the lower right corner of that box it shows you how many available skill points you have for that particular weapon.

Thank you all for your comments. I think that answered it pretty well. I will have to play with it a little more to figure out how to reassign the skill points if I want to or to decide whether to retrain, but at least I think I understand what the purpose is now.
