How do I kill the crabs??? - Pirates of the Caribbean Online Fansite & Forums

I'm moved along in the game pretty well so far (I even made myself a map of Port Royal and list all the people and what they offer me). But for the life of me I cannot seem to figure out how to kill the craps. Am I just lame here? ALso, would love to know if I get rid of the pesty wasps with my sword? I'm killin me lots of guards and skeletons at least!

Thanks for any help you can give me.

if you mean you cant get them with your sword then shoot them with your gun

Close your eyes and click fast--- it works for me!

Have tried my sword and gun, nothing yet. I thought perhaps there was something else to use for them (like the dagger I own but can't use, sigh). Thanks for the answers, I'll keep trying. I hate the wasps the most. Ugh.

do you ever see a red circle thats wend you shoot them i take aim so it targets them aoutomaticly better wend i that skill

Yep, I get the red circle--then fire away. Does it take a couple of shots for them to die? They are such little things I thought perhaps one shot would do it. Same with those darn chickens--can't seem to kill them either.

Bummed totally that I purchased a better sword but can't seem to get it to work as it is telling me I need training. Do I just go back to the room with Will and keep whacking away at the dummies? And why is that dummie out in front of that room, by the bridge.

And darn those cadets that are in back of the boxes and hit you with their guns but don't come out so you can get them with your swords. Cowards I say!!!

OK, I'll stop now. My husband is going to kill me cause I'm so into the game. I had to hide my cool map I made for myself, hehe.

yup takes a lot of cuple of shots not if you have take aim 100+ damage to them and the chickens you cant kill them or the owner of it will start chasing you around lol jk

Really? The owner will chase you? For how long lol? Since the chickens have a level number over them I figured you have to get them eventually in a quest. Is it the same with the sheep back behind the town going to the governer's mansion? hehe.

any idea why some of the skeletons/cadets won't fight back? I have tried to work several different types of scenes with them to see if there is a rhyme or reason but my analytical mind hasn't seen a reason yet--then again, could just be a bug.

I found out that in order to kill a crab, you need to aim a bit lower than usual. That always works for me.

The one quest where Tattoo says to get her a big crab claw,I was killing crabs but nothing on the quest was complete so I went exploring, found a island that had level 10 crabs on it,I used my cannons on them and it worked.

OK, another very lame question--do I have to buy ammo for the pistol? Or can I fire as much as I want?

Sometimes in Port Royal and Tortuga, the crabs on the beach get bugged and you can't attack them. If you approach them and take a few swipes with your sword...and nothing happens, they are bugged.

This happens with guards that wander into areas of tows too. So...if the mob doesn't react to you trying to hit them...or if shooting/slashing them has no effect, then ignore them. They will eventually be cleaned out with a server reset.

The only satisfaction I got from crab hunting was using a connon... (my quests are glitched and I still can't get to that unknown townsperson- so no pistol). The level 10 crabs are huge... They will attack your ship, if you miss, but I stop taking health damage.... About a +37 skill... but it helps make up for some of the bugs for me.

Oh, and now that I am on the dagger quest, and getting sunk all the time... It seems like the crabs just hang out waiting for you to try and get your ship fixed to slow you down

There is other ammo you can buy but for normal shots the lead doesn't run out. There is a townsperson in Padres that sells ammo but again its for special shots. Good luck
