Flag ships
I Was thinking, When you board a flag ship and kill all the people, you could get a choise to keep a person on the boat ( if they want to) repair it and sail with you crew! and so other ppl don't shoot it, it could say player shp in brackets under the ship name! Tell me what you think about the idea

I like the idea. I've often thought it would be good to have the option to keep the ship. Possibilities could be to sell the ship, say at the shipwrights, and split the proceeds among the crew or one person could keep it and pay the other crew members their share.
This opens the possibility of a used ship market. Anybody interested in a low mileage Shadow Crow? |

Thanks guys! And also when your on your stolen ship, you could use the broadsides they do, like skeleton ships fury broadsides and lighning and normal, and for eitc and navy fire and normal and chain shots

I like this idea because most real pirates after flagging a ship they would split the crew and send some to the captured ship and make their fleet. If you ask me we should only be able to buy 1 ship and then use that as our flag ship then flag other ships and grow our fleet.

I like the idea of maybe switching to/keeping the other ship, but IMO such a venture should 'scuttle' the ship being left behind. You beat a flagship and the question comes up "Acquire ship?" and if we say yes, we all move over to the new ship, and watch our old one visit davy jones (this would be somewhat accurate). Obtaining extra ships for selling would not be very accurate, plus you cant sail 2 ships back to port.
Real pirates would often switch ships when they took one over. They seldom 'kept' the ship they were leaving when doing so. Very very FEW pirates ever had more than one ship. Only a few renowned pirates actually had more than one (or a fleet) of ships at thier disposal. |

I don't think it's that reasonable to just steal ships from a seafaring militaristic entity. I'm not so sure that non-privateering pirates robbed the navy (seeing as there is only one in-game) as their main targets.
It'd sorta be like a game where you steal planes from the airforce. |

There certainly is historic precedent for it: pirates normally would "trade up" on ships defeated, especially if theirs took too much damage.
