Leveling...

Ok so let's all discuss the best ways to level. Do you grind? What are your levels? How did you get that? What do you train on? What mini-quest do you do? Where do you do them? Let's all just discuss our strategies.

good lord now you sounding like all those silly players on SWG and WOW who think the only point of the game it level up and "beat" the game.. if that is why u are playing then go hit ther wasps and scopians and aligators I found they give the mst experince points for weapons and notoriety.. but if u dont care about leveling then hits the main story line and then go sailing as well sailing boosts your overall hit point level and the main sotry line quests seem to add more noterity points as well.. I also find that once u hit like lv 5 in a wespon class go buy a better weapon the more damgage leads to more experiance points. and faster grinding.. just like in other MMo's. I have not tested PVP yet but I know a few guys who lveld up like 8 noteritry lvs in about an hour the other night hunting newbies who didnt know how to turn off PVP... a little mean but we have to test everyhting some how right..

lol What's grinding and PVP?

I find that I level faster when I sink level 11-12 ships. I get about 100 points that way. I just became a level 7. lol Pretty low

Let me answer that this way..

This game is called a MMO it is mostly related to WOW and SWG. This game has nothing to do with anyhting Disney has ever done.. its a first for them. Once the game goes live and we are able to buy sell and trade and hopfully be able to start crafting stuff soon. this gmae is designed to run by itself. for a mere $9.95 u get to play with people all over the world.. to some people they log in and go grind.. that is to just go around and kill things for no porpuse but to go up in lv and be better then everyone else.. so they dont do quests or hng out and chat in taverns. Grinding is also good if u are trying to get a certain point becase u want to buy a better cutlass or a stonger cannon.. the other wayt o play this game is as an RPG so do the quests and hope that once a month or so the Dev's will relase more chapters as we go along.. in the game if u interact with a toon that is ran by the game they are called a NPC or (non-player controled) you as a player are called a avatar or a toon or a PC or a player or any number of things that us gamers have come up with.. one other way to enjoy a game like this is called PVP.. or Player v. Player. right now all that thye have turned on for beta is PVP sailing and PVP zones.. if u are on your ship u are open game for anyone else in the water iether NPC or player.. on land if u hit the "L" key and turn on y9ur pvp you will show up as red on other players compases letting them know they can attack you,.. in other MMO's PVP battles are what make a player.. it is also a easy way to lv up since most of the time you get tons of XP points for the kill or in this game noterioty points, buts it the same thing.. hope it helps.. if u have anythig other questions please ask..

Hmm, I find this game closer to Toontown(another Disney MMO) then WoW or SWG, my opinion though. But, yes it has questing and "grinding" like most MMO's.

As far as PvP "making" a player in other games... I don't think so... just because you're good at PvP doesn't mean you're a better player...

magicalnights, grinding is the act of doing something repeatedly to gain experience, money, notoriety etc. (depends on the game and how you "succeed" in that game). It doesn't mean your trying to be better then everyone else...

For example:

I needed to kill 2 EITC fellows in a cave on Tortuga. Well it just so happens they are usually lvl 10 or better. At the time my notoriety was about a 7 (I believe), and fighting them and winning seemed out of the question. I am a soloer by nature so I went about grinding some skeletons and other things more my level until I felt I could take on the EITC fellows. Then I grabbed some "potions" and "kicked their heineys".

My two cents.

I have to agree, this is very much like ToonTown and in fact the devs that work on ToonTown are also working on POTCO so it's very much like something Disney is already doing.

tht must have been great.. hey were any of you around the first few days when the huge monster thing was up near the fort.. they should bring him back with the lag not being as bad right now.. he would be fun to try and solo..

lol Cool. I guess I've been grinding today lol I have to get some stuff from a stump and the only ones I can find are level 14 and 11. I'm level 7 almost to 8. So I'm just trying to level up so I can finish my quest

Yes, I have been grinding a lot today, too. I am level 9 Notoriety, but only 7 cutlass. So, those guys in the cave keep killing me, even with 3 potions! I would like to see us be able to set up our own lair, where we can hang with mateys. In VMK, you can buy rooms, furnishings, etc. I would love to decorate a pirate cave. It would be nice to have the lair to work up plans of attacks with other mateys!

Have you tried going after them with your pistol? I ran into one, a 14, by accident today and my pistol worked just fine against him (along with a little elixir of course, well ok alot of elixir ). This was in the "cave" on Cuba. My current character is only a Level 6 with a level 4 pistol.

Highly recommend it until we can all figure out how to heal ourslves with voodoo...I am sure it will be a skill eventually..
