Easiest way to level blades without dying is still to use hexeater shot on a voodoo caster and then blade away. Witchdoctors, then Gypsies, followed by Brinescum and Mollusks. So, you should level your pistol to get hexeater first, then the blades.

I've actually had good luck with Beckett's Quarry on PDF.

Just make sure to bring lots of cash.

This way you can whomp on guys until you need healing, then, instead of wasting a potion, you can get one of the miners to heal you for 5GP. This way, you can save the potions for mid-fight use when attacking the odd higher-level enemies there.

Didn't know the miners healed you. Learn something new every day.

Well, as far as the sword goes, once you get Flourish you should find leveling up quite a bit easier. I have a hard time not jumping ahead with the sword before leveling up the other weapons.

Granted, I'm not much of a cannoneer.

I'm the opposite, I have to make a point to catch up with cutlass, dagger and pistol. My sailing, Cannon, and doll are way ahead of everything else.

my sailing is almost 18 and i'm just at noteriety 20, treasure sense level 5 + knowing how to take in a full haul without ever sinking for the most part makes you a popular Captain

I do love the solo slooping though

I found that wasps were good 'dagger' fodder, they seemed to have reasonable reputation rewards, and if you start with the lower level wasps not hard to deal with. Starting at someplace like Driftwood Island where they are limited in numbers and mostly lower levels... and working towards hanging in Queens Nest (Isla Perdida). I hung out in there one afternoon and leveled my dagger several levels. Using hexshot as mentioned previously to render voodoo/spellcasting mobs harmless, and then hacking them to bits works pretty well to, although higher level mobs ie (gypsies, molusks, brinescum) can be difficult for a low level pirate to drain even with hexshot.

Well, I do find leveling up the doll pretty easy as well, but just not as easy as the cutlass. The sails are easy to level up, but they seem to take a long time in the works. The pistol I find pretty slow though, in addition to the dagger. They don't seem to do much damage either.

Like I said, I'm a meh cannon. It's hard to level up for me as I rarely even hit.

I've found that if you drain a Gypsy while you're not so high of a level, you'll miss alot as you attack it. The time it takes is far to long to make it considerable for anything other than the doll (which can't miss) and the pistol (which can render your opponent hapless).

I wound up mastering Doll first. Then followed up with an intensive round of Staff mastery.

A couple days later I mastered Sailing.

I just mastered Cutlass two nights ago, and tacked three levels onto Pistol.

Right now I'm closest to mastering Cannon, with Pistol behind it and Dagger behind that.

Grenade is going to be the "red-headed stepchild" (huh huh huh huh) and will probably be upgraded last. Grenade is fairly useless other than as an attention getter (unless you're behind a fence), and is TOTALLY useless in Navy forts (maybe Disney wants to discourage people from chucking bombs at each other).

As of right now, I'm pretty much going to be taking up residence on Tormenta for all my land-based skill mastery. I'm at the point where I can solo in there and only need to leave for reloads. Even so, with the crew bonuses, I'd prefer to take people along.

This is a great idea! I can kill an Assassin and average about 30gp per kill. I turn around a pay 5gp to be completely healed. I go back and do it again netting about 25gp each time!

I would have never thought to train here without this post! Thanks!

Sorry about the late reply. But no problem. I kinda stumbled upon it by accident too. Was going in and burning potions left and right. Then noticed a post that talked about the diggers healing you.

All of the sudden, the .001 picowatt UV bulb went on.

So I've been training bladed weapons in the Quarry until about 19th/20th level.
Then I take the show on the road to Tormenta (preferably with crew).

And I've started noticing a lot more low levels popping into Tormenta. I try to be nice and warn them. I even try to defend them a little.

But when they get insta-killed and come back again, and start swiping rep from my kills? I stop attacking and back away.

The most it's ever taken is two times for one person.

And I look at it as a learning experience (while my crew looks on and laughs).

If your weapon are lower level, royal caverns are a great place to start out at, before beckets quarry. also has miners to heal you far cheaper than cost of tonics. you just need to click fast, and make sure u ask the miner for a heal when u first get your hp to yellow.
