Is taking down the Goliath supposed to be hard?
I participated in the Black Pearl battle earlier this week and was expecting the Goliath to be this massive, hulking, nearly impossibly to take down ship.
Although I'm happy I successfully completed the quest and got my leadership badge, I was a bit let down at how easy it was to take down the Goliath. There were only three of us on the ship, yet we were able to take the Goliath down as easily and quickly as if it were no stronger than an EITC Marauder. Considering how it is a Ship of the Line, I was expecting it to be at least as strong as the Battle Royale, if not stronger. |

Long ago it was a bit of a challenge, but ever since two or three years ago, the Black Pearl Boss Battle as a whole has been watered down. I've done the whole battle with just me and one good gunner and come out alright, and I've heard of a few people who have completely soloed it.
It was at one point a challenge, but not anymore. It's quite a pity, as finishing the whole story chapter isn't too much of a challenge, and is rather anticlimactic with the easy battle. |

I've always seen the Black Pearl boss battle as easier with smaller crews (like driver and 2, maybe 3 gunners). As Tib said, it used to be more a challenge for majority of the Caribbean.
One thing that has made it easier is the increase in skills in the past few years (lv cap increase for notoriety and weapons: cannon and sailing mainly, and the introduction to sailing items: rams, charts, globes.) |

I always found taking down the gates harder. When I finish with that, I pretty much celebrate my victory.
