Tip for sinkin' the "Big Boys" all by yer "onsey"
For all ya’ sea dogs who at least got yer light Galleon or Frigate…. For times that you find yourself all alone, and finding a crew to sail with ya’ seems an impossible task, you can try this strategy to sink the bigger ships, get better loot and more points to your sailin’ skills…….
Make a running attack at an “Ogre”, “Phantom” (whatever your choice) with your broadsides as you pass by it…Keep sailing forward until you just get out of range (the target will come about, and come after you)….While the target turns and comes toward you, close your sails, swing around and hit it with whatever broadsides are charged, then open your sails again turn and move forward and away (it will still try to chase you). Raise your sails, swing to the the other side and fire a volley of broadsides again, open sails, come about, , move forward, and keep repeating until you sink the target……The only tricks to it are..1. Getting to know the judgment of distance, and 2. Keep an eye on your surroundings as you don’t want to end up running into a bunch of big ships that will attack…Try to lead the victim away from the rest. I’ve done this when I use to play years ago, and now that I’m back, I find it still works beautifully! You can fill your cargo with loot from the big ships, with little or no damage to yours! Takes a little practice, but it’s worth it! Happy Huntin' http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...irates/mat.gif |

Great guide for basic pirates, let me tell them this: They'll need to save up all the gold, silk, iron, ect... if they want to get on an awesome customized ship.

This method of attack is awesome if you can get a crew that understands what you're doing, and are not hopping on and off the cannons running back and forth accross the ship confused about what side to be on....You sink the big ships so fast, your cargo is full in no time at all....But it still works great if you're sailin' alone....If you have a small crew, you can explain to them before you sail, "I'm going to tell you a target, and what side to be on...When we hit that target with broadsides, I'm going to turn away or keep going forward, and gain some distance...the target will turn and start chase. When I have the distance, I will stop and come about on the other side, so you'll need to switch sides after the first strike..When the target comes in your site, open fire (crew can arc cannon fire for far range if they know what they're doing). When he target is in "Broadside" range I will fire (1 or 2 broadsides (depending on how good you get the "timing and distance" thing down)...I can get off 2 from the time the target is in range, before it starts coming about to fire )). Then I'm going to turn away and get some distance again (the target will follow, unless you go too far), and come about on the opposite side. So, when we start to move from a still position while attacking, just switch sides and you'll be in the right place"

With this method, you can be out there all day attacking bigger, higher level ships, and suffer very little, or no damage, unless you allow yourself to be cornered by a bunch of enemy ships. If you need to..Stop the attack plan..Get out of the trouble area..Then attack the same target from a spot where you can lead it away from Navy/EITC support.

If anyone comes across me in game...I'll be more than happy to take em' out to watch (don't even have to do anything but watch), and see for themselves
