Soccer526, I just wanted to point out that the black spot does not make the Kraken follow him, it means something like he is going to die soon. The kraken was just going to be that reason.

Also Midhav, it would be hard to tell when exactly this movies was, because during the second movie is basically when Tia saves Barbossa, or something like that. Yet if it was between 1 and 2, Barbossa might not be alive, and he might not be in the Grotto. It is hard to know exactly when, because some parts of the story aren't shown or never give an exact time.

If you look closely in Dead Man's Chest when Jack visits Tia, you can observe that Barbossa is sitting in the other side of the room, unnoticed (Jack the monkey also runs to his side of the room). And if you've played the At World's End game, you'd know that Tia Dalma was using her aides to help her in rallying up the pirate lords, when Jack began his search for the key. It can be assumed that she predicted what was going to happen. Otherwise why would she revive Barbossa so early?

So the only rational outcome of this, adhering to PotCo's existence, would be that this was between the first and second movies. If it was set prior to or during the 1st, then Hector would be the cursed captain of the Pearl. And it's highly improbable for any of these events to occur in the very short time frame of Dead Man's Chest (also, Liz and Will won't be on Port Royal - they'd be roaming about the islands). And there was a long one year difference between the first two movies. And if during the 3rd, then Jack would be dead, and the rest of the characters elsewhere. If after the 3rd, most of these characters would have going their separate ways - Will taking the Dutchman, Jones' crew not being mutated, Elizabeth being a pirate captain, Beckett being dead, Jones dead, the Governor dead, and so many other characters misplaced.

This is the only time period for any of PotCo's events to happen.

And Soccer526 is right - the Black Spot is a sign of the Kraken on your tail.

It would be pretty funny if one day they just released it, without giving any hints what so ever.

The game was a promotional tool for the 2nd and 3rd movies. It was supposed to be finished in time for the 2nd film's release. It was NOT and got set back.

In the meantime, they beta tested the Kraken scenes and there was obviously a problem. they have been promising us a Kraken for over three years - it ain't here. And likely won't be. Stop holding your breath for it.

Now, as to the point about the story limitations...

There is a valid point to say that now the 4th movie is coming, they may break us out of this trap the writers set. However, doing so would effectively lose Will and Elizabeth, Davy's boys and Cutler Beckett (who's around in spirit only any way).

But, the more like answer is they will simply go sideways and try to ignore the glaring issues between the films and the game. You film geeks will have to deal with the fact that any big changes will ruin the time line. Sorry, thats the way it would have to be.

As I've said before, the answer to this whole thing would lie in one thing - EXPANSIONS! This game seems to be set between 1 and 2, so let it be named as... "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Rise of Jolly Roger"? And then Disney could come out with a sequel called "Pirates of the Caribbean: Extinction" which could be set during the events of both the 2nd & 3rd movies, when the EITC captures the Heart of Davy Jones, and begins its actual MASSIVE campaign against pirates. How about that? We would have two or three story quests for each expansion.

But the main thing is that none of these story quests should make DIRECT contact with the movies' stories, for then it would be as good as playing the console version of the movie game. For example, if we have a story quest about Davy Jones and the Kraken, it should not be about Jack asking us to look for Jones' heart. It could be about Jones wanting El Patron's Cursed Blades or hunting down Tia Dalma (causing chaos everywhere)

But the second proposition one could make on the game and its relation with the stories, is to leave the game AS IT IS, but make all the characters play their own stories in it. Because, if you take the basis of my previous paragraph, then we can have a story quest about Cutler Beckett/ Davy Jones / Tia Dalma wanting you to hunt down Blackbeard, which could culminate in some serious combat. This is because, during the events between 1 and 2, EVERY character, from the likes of Blackbeard to Jones to Jack to Beckett would be alive! So there are hundreds of possibilities you can make out of this. Davy Jones troubling Jolly Roger, so you have to fend him off.

It really doesn't have to be that we go to Singapore to find the charts, or cross the Farthest Gate to bring Jack Sparrow back. No. It's a game with the setting of PotC, so while all these exist, the game developers can be as innovative as they want with their characters.

There is no hope for the kraken. in everything diseny has done to the game, they show that they are lazier than the navy. (and thats saying something... lol) The kraken is an impossibility, so we might as well let this thread die!

Also not all players want The Kraken. I am glad that thing isn't coming. I would much rather have the Mythical Second Chapter in game than anything else.

Here's my opinion on this whole thing.

The Kraken probably will never come, or if it does, it will be faaaaaar into the future. I really don't care if it never comes, because I know there will be lots of additions that are just as good if not better than it! Now, if The Kraken does come by some miracle, I will be very happy. That would be cool, but I doubt it will ever come. Look at all the other cool updates that are out there! They are going to add new ships quite soon (or so most of us believe...), hopefully another story chapter, tons of stuff! Just quit asking for The Kraken. You and I know that it will never come, so just stop asking for it. You're getting so fixated on one thing that you can't enjoy all the others. Enjoy everything else that we have, and will have.

It doesnt even matter! THE MOVIES ARE THE TALE, they dont matter! every charactar in the game and the game are the legend, i would think you would know that from the tv commercial :O

Ok first of all, you have no idea if it will come or not. The kraken WILL come. They keep to there promises. There redoing it, its just there working on other things right now, there trying to figure out how they can add it back into the game without messing up the storyline, so for now its blackbeard.

And besides, they showed them working on it with python panda 3D on Disney 365, the commercial on disney channel ( i looked it up on you tube ). Thats evidence that there making it. They want to make this one BEAST looking thing then the weird old model before!

So people who do want the kraken, keep the faith. Let them take there time ,lvl up and be prepared for it. Because it will come.

Besides... This game is based on creating your own pirate adventure not following the movies. So go out and enjoy your own pirates adventure. Stop worry about whats next and do whats out.

I hate to sound like a ranter, but I will have to say this. Where is your evidence of this? They probably promised us the Kraken about... what, a year after the game was released? POTCO is now almost 3 1/2 years old, and we have not seen it. If they can customize a whole new weapon inventory, Infamy, Invasions, Treasure Fleets, Raven's Cove, and all this other stuff we have seen, then why can't they make The Kraken? As Skirata said, the Developers said it isn't coming, and that commercial is years old. Something happened to the Kraken coding, or the Developers decided to work on other things. As I said in my previous post, it is probably not coming, and if it is, it is coming faaaaaar in the future. If it comes, great! But don't get so obsessed over this one little thing that may never come that you ignore all this other stuff. Its not even that great anyway. There are loads of other updates that can be released that are even better. Keep hoping all you want, but I highly doubt that it will come, and I personally don't care either way. There are countless other things that the Developers can work on that will be as good as or better than a silly over-sized piece of calamari.

Honestly, I don't even see why we are still posting on this thread. Most of us know the answer to if The Kraken is coming or not. The Kraken won't come. I'm fairly certain the Developers are working on other things right now.
