Post your favorite pistol build!

I started this thread because I haven't used any of my pistol skill points yet, and I was hoping to hear from some members who have tried several pistol builds and would like to comment on which ones they believe are the best...

Any input is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

I just maxxed shoot and take aim, basic lead,

hex eater i only maxxed after i mastered simply cuz i didnt wanna do too much damage to the enemy but just drain voodoo to train other weapons, and it comes in handy for instantly draining an enemies voodoo in one shot so i can help my friends level or whatnot.

honestly i never even unlocked any of the ammo types besides hex eater, but probably will play around with the diff types on my other character.

maxxed sharpshooter as without it, daggers are pretty useless imo, got sick of 1 out of every 3 missing, now ive rarely if ever missed, and they become fun, and it works for the pistol acc too obviously so great for those sick of the miss miss miss syndrome..

i dont believe mine is best, cept for me dont use the pistol much, and id probaly get tired of the specialized ammo types and running out, so i rely on something i know i'll have always, and not a finite amount.

I have been working on putting the points where they help all ammo types first (shoot, take aim, sharp shooter, eagle eye) and just keeping 1 point each in the ammo types. I can drop something big if I need to (for example I can take out a raider with Take Aim and steel shot or a Stump with Take Aim and Venom Shot) or whittle it down (a few shots of hex eater on a gypsy to burn off the vodoo and then simple lead shot until it's dead again).

I'm sure after everything is filled that I can fill I'll start upping ammo types but probably the higher types (Silver and Steel) to give me more fire power against the higher level enemies.

The only thing I have not put any points in is Dodge. Spirit Ward and Parry work pretty good so I might leave Take Aim at 3 and put the other 2 points in Dodge. Have not decided yet.

Most pistol abilities are worthless, so it's good you're doing some research before figuring out how to allocate your points. I only see one viable pistol spec and it's.

1 - Shoot
5 - Take Aim
5 - Lead shot
5 - Hex Shot
5 - Accuracy Passive
5 - Range Increase Passive

Shoot and Take Aim are interchangeable, it just depends on how you prefer to play. I never really used my pistol for anything other than pve. Since it was mastered I haven't touched it because of it's overall lack of utility in pvp and terrible damage.

This would be my set-up for my pistol, if I were to ever max another pirate on it or could change my current pirate.

Shoot - 5 points (4 points used - you start with one)
Take Aim - 5 points (5 points used)
Lead Shot - 4 points (2 points used)
Silver Shot - 5 points (5 points used)
Steel Shot - 5 points (5 points used)
Hex Eater - 1 point (1 point used)
Accuracy - 2 points (2 points used)

All adding up to 24 points used total. I think that's the amount you get to use when you're maxed, right? I don't think it's 25. Not sure though.

Now for my reasoning:

5 points on accuracy only because it works for the dagger also, and I remember having a hard time training it at a low level dagger as it always missed, and putting 2 points on it sped up my training extr.

Steel Shot and Silver Shot because I know my silver shot does about 2,000 to 2,500 (with full take aim) on level 20-25 enemies, which is amazing. A regular shot with it is usually 600 to 900. Since Steel Shot does even more than Silver Shot then I would assume it would do almost 3,000 on average.

4 points on Lead Shot because with both of these shots, you really don't need Lead Shot much, but I put 4 points on it because incase you run out, you always have a high power back up. Also, you can use it to kill smaller enemies to save your Silver and Steel Shot, so you don't have to make too many trips to the gun shop for restocks.

5 points on Shoot and Take Aim because they signifacantly increase your damage for all shots. Sometimes I like using Take Aim as a quick KO, and sometimes I prefer just to shoot three bullets just to quickly take out the rest of the enemies points.

1 point on Hex Eater because it's pretty self-explanatory why you should unlock it. I shoot the Hex Eater 3 times and it usually drains all of the enemies voodoo. I don't see why anyone would have more than one point on it. One is enough to drain all the voodoo very fast, why do you need more?

I don't understand why Eagle Eye would be worth 5 points. I guess I see how it would be cool to have 16 (or 20?) feet of extra distance to shoot from, but definetely not neccesary.

Eagle eye is godsend for one reason. The dagger throw range increase. I coudln't tell you how many times someone would grave shackle me when their health got low and try to break away from me. Never worked on account that I could pummel them with daggers during the 5 seconds I was chained down and that extra 20 units was key.

Hex Eater significantly increases voodoo drained. I saved tons of trips back to buy ammo by having it 5/5'd and you can actually burn through the player regen in pvp unlike a 1/5 hex shot. I don't use it much but at least it has a use unlike silver/steel/poison shots.

Silver and Steel shots are completely worthless shots in my opinion. What good are they? The damage is insane on steel and silver thus they reward you with little rep per kill and both of them do less damage than lead shot in PvP because we're not considered to be living or undead. There is no reason to farm rares with limited shots on your pistol unless you're on padres beach where most mobs are grey to a 40 with 25 pistol. You may as well be farming graveyards loaded with lvl 10 and below mobs if you're looking to farm grays. I really don't see a single benefit of having either of these shots.

Shifty~

P.S. You have 27 points used in your pistol spec. Although you get 1 lead shot and 1 shoot by unlocking the pistol they still count towards the 26 total.

i suppose the only use for em would be using them for opposite effect..
say using the living ones on the undead, and vice versa for more rep..

but then again that can be achieved the same way with basic take aim and weak lead for an easy 100 rep. so i dont use either anyways,

i can however see how steel/silver would be useful for a mastered weapon or mastered mastered pirate who dislikes pvp, and just helps for the players who stick around to just have fun helping others, is why i even maxxed hex eater and heal/cure and such.
