Is anyone else slowing down when they board a flag ship? - Pirates of the Caribbean Online Fansite & Forums

Everytime I board a flag ship, my character slows down so bad I can hardly move. Then after that things seem a bit slower. I have 2.5 G of memory so that should be sufficient. Any comments?

ive found potco isnt so much reliant on ram than it is cpu speed and obviously the type and power of the graphics card you have.

but yeah it does seem like a sort of memory leak still, as after i lag with alot of onscreen action (usually crowded ports or ships) it seems to stay that way till i log out and back in.

might check you settings, at the very least check to see if your memory conservation setting isnt on aggressive, as it will cause alot of stuttering, and with the ram you have, you should have it set to default.

I get it too. I just end up having to heal the players and stand there cause if I move, I would most likely die

yea i thought they fixed the memory leak however the more i read the more it seems to be coming back .....

I will go over to other ship when boarding and sometimes not catch up with my pirated til after I get back when I have a crew. When Im alone.. I dont have as much troubles with it if Im on a quiet server.

Last night, when I tried to board flags, it wouldn't let me board, and both my ship and the flagship would spontaneously sink. We even (eventually) brought down the War Frigate that's been hanging around Port Royal lately! But no matter the size or level, the same thing would happen each time last night.

I hope they get the glitches fixed soon!

I boarded alot of ships last night with no problems.

Yup dunno what the issue is.. I'm running 1.5g of ram, and a pretty old processor. 2.0ghz or so.. Anyways I never have this issue. So I think it truely is dependent on your video card because I have one of the best PCI-E graphic cards you can buy. Think anything over 1.0g ram and 1.5ghz processor is sufficent for PoTCO but graphic card takes the heat from this game.

EDIT: Yeah also there are still memory leaks in the game. Its still on the Known Issues page.. So you may want to make a habbit of closing out your game and opening it again every once in awhile.

Another thing I have had a problem with. I went to solo board a MOW for fun, and when I swung over ont eh rope, i just went to the water. Didnt even make it to the ship. Screen went black and I had to restart. When I started back up, I was in jail. The only good thing was my ship was perfect. Only damage was what I caused earlier. Sad that I lost my royals on board...and it wouldnt let me scuba for them

Least you got it easy

hasnt happened to me in ages, but once boarded a ship, and it was completely empty, and i stood and watched my own ship sink for no reason, then the one i was on and then went to the black screen and jail music.

ended up having to ctrl alt dlte and relog in, groggy in jail, with a sunken ship
