I'm back and ready to master my...wait a minute...
After sailing off the edge of the map in April 2009, I'm back! I left my 39th lvl pirate just shy of mastering and balanced all my weapons and skills thanks to the forums here so now I just have to...what's that? 50?! Potions?? Fishing?!?!
![]() Well, it looks like I have more work to do. In fact in a battle with Jolly Roger a couple of nights ago, I got knocked out and turned 40 in Jail. Not how I pictured turning 40. I am trying to read all the old News posts and forums to figure out all the changes around here but if someone has a summary, I would appreciate it. For example, I see that lvl 29 or so bad guys just shake their heads no and leave me alone in the caves. What else changed? Oh, and I know this old-school signature is in violation somehow (a mod sent me an email after I left last year) but I only intend to use it for this post for old-times sake. So avast, me hearties. The demon pirate is back! (and looking for a fishing pole? really??)

Ah, returned to the game and found everything changed? Would've happened to me too, but I returned before the rush of updates came. I can give you a pretty good summary.
Alright, for one, invasions have become part of everyday life in the Caribe, a battle where Jolly gives us a 30 minute warning before he decides to hack us to bits. Defend the barricades on the main islands, and when Jolly arrives, kill him. Treasure fleets have also arrived to the world, where a Ship of the Line (New Ship) is accompanied by 4 or 5 War Frigates and tries to sail from point A to point B. Your objective: Stop them! Mini games are games that have been included by Disney. They are Ship Repair, Potion making, Cannon Defense and Fishing. Each has it's own station respectively. If your looking for the Fishmaster, he's located by the end of the docks near the fishing stations on PR, Tortuga and PDF. And what you speak of about the NPCs is the new awareness system. If you get near any enemy or ally non-player, they will turn towards you and do a certain movement, sometimes based on your level. The new level 50 came to entertain us and give us a new goal. The weapon cap has also came up to lvl 30. New weapons! Loot pouches and loot chests give us gold and clothes, and weapons! Famed weapons and Legendary weapons are among the best in the game, and to find one is truly good fortune! And finally, the Piece de Resistiance, Raven's Cove. A forsaken island, with a new quest, and new enemies. Mind the red ghosts on the island, would you? That's just a rough explanation. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions! |

Jack summarized it up quite well. In short, the POTCO you played back in 2009 is almost nothing like the POTCO we have now. It's going to take some time to get used to all the new additions, but you may just come to enjoy it like the rest of us. And, just so you know, Disney has begun to take more initiative in this game - no more 6th months without updates, for sure
![]() Welcome back, Chernabog! I believe I remember you from when I was just a little guy on these forums. Glad to see another old-timer return ![]() If you need anything, feel free to ask me. Sit back, relax, and welcome to the new Pirates of the Caribbean Online

Thank you, Jack Shipsteel! That was an amazing summary and much quicker than digging through all the old posts which was taking me forever. I found out about Jolly Roger the hard way. I still have my weapons set for leveling (low damage) and I got smoked!
And the belt limits you to using 4 weapons? That's a little annoying. Thanks for the info on the Ship of the Line b/c I didn't know what I was looking for while sailing during that time. Do they always spawn in the same place? Or do you just have to hope you are in the right part of the sea? Thanks. |

The fleets appear in set places, but they appear in a different set place each time. If you need help finding one, you can use your map and they'll have a grey/red marker of it's trail. Red is where it has been or currently is, and grey is it's intended route.
And the configuration of the weapons have gotten rid of the familiar F1 = Sword routine, but this way you can have an all-gun weapon belt, or all-sword, etc. Hope this is useful! |

welcome back! well i wasnt in the game last year, so pretty much, i dont see a lot of updates like you see. im used to bad guys shaking their head at me, although when the undead flex their muscles...now i really dont understand the point of that i mean they dont have muscle! they are just bone. and im guessing that you also see that your pirate moves on its own like scratching its head or something. now the invasions....yea they let you know 30 minutes before jolly roger comes and invasions are like wat everyday? this probably wasnt must help but ive only been on pirates online i think since august
