Land and Sea Combat icons?

I can't find this anywhere, so ...

During combat I see all of these little round icons appear over the health bar of myself and my opponents. In some cases they are intuitive, such as when my ship is on fire, and there is a little count-down timer around the perimeter of the icon, then it disappears.

OK, fine. Cool.

But is there a guide somewhere that lists all of these icons and what they mean? Because I'd like to know. There must be some reason we are meant to know what these icons are telling us ....

I've puzzled out a few. I figured out if you hold your mouse over the icons, a little message pops up telling you what the effect is, and how long it lasts. I've seen "Poison" (green bubbles), Blindness" (an eye), "Slow" (4-pointed star) and a few others. Problem is, you sometimes don't have time in the middle of a combat to click on those icons.

There really should be a list of them as part of the manual, dontcha think?

Maybe we could use this thread to report our findings and compile a list?

A face with some red on you is taunt, and the print is hard to read if you move it over it.

These icons are just simply your "status", if you know what I mean...

A good example would be to use Pokemon. Yes, it's a childish game that I'm sure everyone used to play, but it's a good example. Think about in the game when you would battle others. Some attacks would "poison" you, or "freeze" you, or "burn" you, etc.

Those icons are basically that. Some of the counters too also look similar to the ones you see/use when using broadsides at sea or voodoo on land.

Here's a couple of them from the top of my head:

Land

1. The yellow cross is a dizzy icon, and that makes you walk really slow until the counter ends.

2. Green bubbles like the above poster mentioned, means you slowly lose a tiny bit of health every few seconds until the counter ends.

3. If you deal with witchdoctors, they use voodoo extremely similar to yours, so some icons like the fire one or the curse one will appear when used by them or by you.

Sea

1. Whenever you pull a ship maneuver, like the speed one or the turning one, an icon will appear to tell you the remainder of the time until the effect wears off.

2. I believe you already know what this is because you mentioned it, but whenever a fire cannonball is shot at you and sucessfully hits, your ship will lose a little health every few seconds until its effect wears off (and of course you can see fire during that time on your ship... which is cool and bad at the same time, lol).

All these examples use counters, and I'm sure there are more.
Hope this answers your questions or at least helps you out.
