Another bad thing about weapons drops
Has anyone tried working nades at the fence in KH lately?
I hate the fact that the "DROP" system has removed the old standard of getting gold from EVERY single enemy you defeat. On my first 5 pirates, working the nades fence in KH would not only earn me about 4 levels of Noto, take me from level 4 nades to level 20+, but would also get me about 35K in gold. Now, if you work the fence, you can still get the Noto and nade rep, but the gold becomes almost impossible. AT MOST, you will get a loot drop from 2 out of the 7 each time you beat them. Sometimes, none at all. But then, you have to leave your spot, run around the fence, risking getting attacked by other enemies, in order to pick up the loot. Then, you get about 1/4 the amount of gold that we used to get per round of nades. After you fill your chest with junk weapons and clothes, you either can't pick up anymore, or you have to go somewhere else in order to sell it all, giving up your spot, and having to sail back. All of you who think this drop system is so great, you must have forgotten already that we used to get gold from EVERY SINGLE ENEMY! Drops were rare! Too rare, I will admit. But to turn the entire system into nothing but drops, Disney "dropped" the ball on this! The old system was better! All they should have done was made drops less rare.

My baby pirate on one of my accounts just turned 20. I do miss the gold from grenades at Kingshead. It is a pain running around the fence for drops and asking a guildmate to tp to be a placeholder when you need to sell stuff. One good thing though you do not need to run to the weapon shop for ammo now.

Yea Bas, I tried grinding nades on KH the other night on charlie. It was such a pain that I just gave up. I also remember using the gold there to get the first war ship I bought. Guess I will have to do a gold transfer from Jezz to Charlie now.

I so agree, it's a pain. Adding drops ( seeing as I never saw one before ) was a good thing but to take away getting gold from ALL enemies you defeat? simply irritating. Would be less so if I could actually find some clothing NOT sold in a store.

I havent tried this yet at KH (grenades are mastered), but I do sure heck remember that I use to get atmost 1K gold by grinding them there before these new updates. I understand completely how you have to run out to check the loots and it gets a little annoying running back and forth, PLUS when you dont find anything great after the 10th trip. Kinda just like when beating Dark Hart alone; run out of that spot where he doesnt attack you, check the loot drop, then run back.

I haven't done that yet, but yes , it is annoying! Gold gold gold gold is all you used to get. Now... NOTHING almost every time.

On all my pirates prior to the update I nearly completed the navy medal collection, minus the pirate slayers mark. I did this by grenade level 17+. So this is frustrating. Heck all treasure collection drops are rare now except invasions. I may never complete my collections on my two pirate masters, and now even my new pirates! AAAAARRRRGGGGG! |

What ever happened to "This game is too easy!"?
Back before this update, if you kept at it for a while, you could get thousands upon thousands of gold in a day. If you did this for long enough, you would get in range of the previous gold cap of 65,000 gold. Also, you would probably get at LEAST one treasure piece each round of Navy at Kingshead. Long story short, pirates would buy everything they wanted/needed, and still have surplus. Now, gold is harder to find, and the gold cap was over tripled. You actually have to WORK to get that next piece of clothing, or that new shiny ship, or weapon, or this, or that. Completing is a treasure set is like treasure hunting - you never know when you get it, but when you do, its exciting, its worthwhile. The game we once saw as "too easy" has just gotten a step towards "a little harder." And honestly, any type of challenge is welcome

I dont like the fact that we have to press shift for loot pouches that contains nothing but only 5 to 10 piece of gold. Well if it's just gold why not drop the gold normally cuz noo i dont wanna press shift a hundred times per day. Or drag and drop a hundred weapons to the sell/trash box.

...Some of us never wanted to play all day and all night...I easily spent my gold when capped just on re-training, experimentally...lol...
..Im not against the improvements at all...but when you don't even get a dirty sock from an enemy, after say a quest that has you kill twenty and you get mebbe one loot pouch,....theres something wrong with it..that doesn't happen every time....but a lot.... After all, a pirate would get 'something'...right?...Its not realistic.. As for the challenging part....I think there need to be harder/higher level enemies and a few more bosses in out of the way places....and some quests that rouse ones curiosity...mebbe with an educational twist...historically speaking mebbe.... I keep finding rare jewels....would love to be able to do anything with those...turn in to a jeweler to make a necklace or ring...whatever if not selling or trading them...

The problem identified here, is that gold is STILL far too easy for high level pirates to max out, and still too impossible to get when you need it (i.e. around level twenty-something, sailing 15.)
The loot drop system has indeed exacerbated the problem. Gold and treasures shouldn't be found in a "loot pouch" - they should be given just as they still are from the stump boss on Outcast Isle. A minor point of correction, Basil: clothing drops (before the loot system) were no longer "very rare" - they were turned off or broken for almost a year. I agree it would have been much better to reinstate those drops instead. Customers screamed for more inventory space. Instead of giving any more space, the system was changed around to be "more traditional" - which in hindsight, is the antithesis of what any player actually wanted or needed in this game. In response to any sycophantic comments in Disney's defense about this being harder (at the wrong level) somehow being a good thing, I will say one thing. This same team changed the boss battle, to what it is now. (Yes, those panthers came the same month as the new loot system update. Yes, the Black Pearl is effectively invincible to the first three and last two forts now. Goliath itself, is simply not worth discussing.) |

The Boss Battle will always be "too easy" for those who have seen it before. For those who haven't, it'll be one of the most difficult, awe-inspiring events the game has to offer (at that present time and level.) The difference between us, who have seen it before in different stages, and the new kids, is that we have something to compare it to. And the same goes for gold. Nobody's argument would be valid here if they didnt have anything to compare it to. Now, am I saying your argument isn't valid? No. But what I'm saying is, before you assume how hard it is to find gold, take it from a basic level 1's perspective, those who don't have any previous stance on how the gold system previously functioned. |

My apologies if you took that a personal slant - I thought my comment was general enough; perhaps not. Your comment is by far not the only one that might meet that description.
Thank you for the interesting perspective. I'm not sure new players to the game agree with you, though. People I have met in-game recently, are incessantly starved of gold at the lower levels (i.e. under 30) when they need it the most. As old-timers of the game, it seems obvious to me (and probably others here) that the new loot system has caused the problem. I very strongly disagree with your assessment about the boss battle. Perhaps you haven't done it recently, nor seen that the Black Pearl is essentially invincible for major portions of the battle? People are easily able to complete their boss battle now, driving it themselves without only one other person with them...even if that other person isn't shooting at all. Walking up to Jack Sparrow and pressing the shift key, is more daunting a task. So, I stand by my assertion; the current team is not focused on making any aspect of the game more challenging. The loot system problem with gold is an oversight, not intentional. Perhaps they meant to adjust it as they go? But it is causing problems, particularly for new players. |
