Favorite links being rerouted to other sites? 0_o
I don't know why or how but on my list of favorite sites, when I click a link it sends me to something else. I have Firefox. For example...I click the link that goes to yahoo.com but it sends me to a blank white page with a picture of a pof or disney pirates banner....or I click the one for my schools website and it tries to go to another site but my browser doesn't let it load all the way, it shows a message saying that my browser has blocked this site because it could be dangerous...and no I dont have a virus protection cause mine expired months ago... thought about using Avast(i think that's what its called)

Virus...
Sounds like you have a mailware type virus - that is affecting your web browsing.
-oops - New to the forum and I guess I can't put links to sites with info? Do a search sepcifically for your browser and your main issue - you will find that some info comes up with some links on how to get rid of this. It should be pretty easy to get rid of it - just an add-on that got added innadvertantly. Meanwhile I will read the rules of the site as to what I can post! - Good Luck ![]() -Jack Shandy Last edited by Jack Shandy; 12-17-2009 at 03:22 AM.. It sounds like malware or a virus of some type on your system.
It could be as simple as something like a corrupt favorites list/file, but I doubt it (not sure how firefox stores favorites). I would look for a few well known adware/malware, and virus programs and check out your system. A quick search on google, or yahoo will probably help you find a few. Avast, AVG <-- well known free antivirus Adaware, SpyBot Search&Destory <-- a couple well known adware/malware applications. There are certainly others... I dont endorse any of them, just pointing out some known applications. Whatever you use, make sure you 'update' it even if just downloaded. Definitions for new issues are updated frequently, and seldom in the distribution files. Have a great piratey day, and hope you get your issue there cleaned up! |
