What Happens When Your GM Quits?
I am sure that if I searched long enough I could find the answer but...This question has been bugging me for a while.
What happens to a guild when the GM tires of POTCO and goes basic? Does he/she retain the GM position? Does it default to someone else? Or do the unsuspecting guild mates log on one morning to find that they are no longer in a guild? What can be done when a GM just abandons the game and, therefore, the Guild? Why is it just allowed to simply flail about with no head while the body withers and dies? Also. How many guild names are out there, unaccounted for, lost in the Ethernet for all time? You know. Start a guild with a great name, it dies and the GM drops the whole thing. Does the old name go back in the pool or is it listed forever as taken? Big D has been talking up the whole Guild thing for a while now, singling out big successful guilds and creating contests that overwhelmingly favor these big guilds. But their Guild Management system leaves a LOT to be desired. No way to "turn a guild over" to a second in command, etc...Or is it just me? EDIT:

OK, from experience, since I have been directly involved in this.
If the GM just goes basic, but stays in the game, the basic account is still the GM, with all the rights and piveledges of the GM remaining. If the GM totally leaves the game, the guild wll survive, but since there is no GM, no one can be promoted or demoted to officer. Disney provides no means to 'transfer' the guild to a new GM. Even if the old GM and a new person get together and request it. No, the pirates do not get booted from the guild if the GM quits. The guild name is not reusable. (Hence the misspelling of 'Dueces' in Dueces Wild. I wanted that name, but it was already taken when spelled properly.) And lastly, I would bet that well over 50% of the guilds listed on DxD are defunct guilds. I have seen people right here on the POF forums start and leave half a dozen guilds in very short periods of time.

They need to set up a transfer option... =(
Would be a really great option. |
