Anyone planning a CCG style group for pirates?

Now that many of us are over the quests with nothing left to do but get the final levels of a few weapons, I know many out there are just dying to help out others as something to do if nothing else.

I'm always looking for friends or even strangers to help. Just last night I was at kingshead working on leveling a weapon and ended up helping two different random strangers with their quests there.

Since the goals are quite different here than TT, it would seem the best solution would be to have a common meeting place for anyone needing or wanting help with their quests to go rather than having assigned times for raiding specific areas. Something like meet on the end of the EITC dock in port royal at the top of every hour on the first server starting with the letter C that is quiet or something.

This Pirate Raider group could help tp people around, take on big quests such as kingshead I or II, or just help people find NPC's or dig spots they can't find.

I can tell you that many in my guild would help if such an organized group existed.

Any thoughts on this? Anyone already have something like it planned?

Not that I know of, but we should do it. We should incorporate sailing into it, as well, for quests that require sinking ships. Might be better to go ahead and set up specific times and locations for that. People could even use it just to gain cannon or sailing skills.

Oh How i Love The TTC'ers and the CCG I think that sounds great!

Orginazation would be a problem I fear....If we could get a meeting place and time slot, that would help. I like the idea of "EITC Dock on Port Royal In Barten at the top of the hour." Biggest problem I see is the whole Guild system pirates has set up....you can only be in one, and I know that I don't want to leave mine, so how do we distinguish ourselves? Or do we just show up and say "Who Needs Help With What?" and take it from there?

I guess the good point is that we can openly chat with everyone, so we can all communicate what we need and what we can help with.

Just throwin thoughts out there......guess i really came up with no solutions LOL

I'm in, whatever y'all need

The idea is to have a place where people who need help can find people willing to help. Yes, the whole crew function is all messed up and changing servers screws up your current crew and often makes it so you can't crew up again. You just have to remember to uncrew before changing servers. You need to not be in a crew anyway since crewing the people you are helping is the best way to keep track of them and have them TP to you without having to actually make friends.

Those in need would just have to open chat and ask if anyone can help with blah. Blah could be a sailing task, a big quest such as dig on tormenta or kingshead for grenades, or simply just can't find something and need someone to help show them the way.

I prefer to stick to quiet servers for many reasons. Lag is one of them, but no sense trying to help someone with a sailing task on a server where there are more player boats than enemy. This is why I said the first server starting with a letter that is listed as quiet.

The more I think about it, the more every hour seems a bit much. It will be way too much hit and miss. Not sure what time frame is a good balance, but that's something that can be hashed out.

The other challenge is getting the word out. There are a few who read this board and I'm sure there is a broad cross section of guilds to help spread the word. The problem is getting the new players to know where to go. I could see 15 people waiting to help and only having one or two show up lol.

Again, I think the problem with starting a helper club here is getting the word out to those who need it. After all, those in a guild with people from here already probably have guild mates to help them and most new people wouldn't know about this board to find help.

Do you all agree? Again, just sounding ideas and opinions here. There are no right or wrong answers. If there is a way to help fill a need I'm all for it and so are the other members of my guild. The key is to figure out how to get the people who need the help to find us.

I've got a guild that's just like that. Most of us aren't done with our quest - we're all near the 50% range, but still pretty high level. We help each other a lot. Once PotCO has another Release Notes I'll log into the game and see if the lag is any better, and if you want, send you a guild invite.

Thank you anyway, but I'm guild master of Aces Full. We are not talking about a guild, but rather an informal group from across all guilds who volunteer to help out others with quests or just raids in general. You wouldn't give up your current guild to join or help, just show up to the event area/times and help anyone out who asks. Kind of like the CCG in toontown, only pirate style. Because there are guilds in POC, it would have to be called something like the Pirate Raider Clan or something that didn't have the word guild in it.

Well, just an idea, but what might help (as a start) is to have a forum, specifically, where people could ask for help with quests (or with leveling weapons, if we wanted to make that part of what was offered). That would be up to the mods, though. People could spread the word to those in their guilds looking for help when help wasnt available, either directing them to the help forum here (if one was set up) or giving them the times and locations help could be found, in game, once those are established. Other than that, the only thing I can think of is to stand at the docks in Tortuga in busy districts where new people are often found asking for help.

Edited to add: What about setting up specific times each day to help people with specific quests. Say (just for example) Kingshead help could be offered at 10:00 am and 8:00 pm, and sailing times scheduled for 9:00 and 11:00 am and 7:00 and 9:00 pm, etc...

Wiz,

I'd be happy to help with something like this. Since finishing quests I'm either helping friends or working weapons and I enjoy being able to help someone with one of the tough tasks. I'll be honest, not much good at helping with sailing stuff unless I'm on cannon - I have steering issues! LOL

I'd say start a thread that explains what you/we want to do regarding helping people and anyone interested can post there. If it gets popular, I'm sure the mods/admins would help out with a sticky. If everyone interested in helping checked the thread daily it would help.

Set times might work too - unfortunately my real life is so unpredictable that I can't ever guarantee that I can be on at a certain time.

I'm pretty sure a few from the guild I'm in would be happy to help too, plus friends from other guilds.

Will keep watching this thread for updates.

I'm also willing to help where I can.

I've settled in on the Thieves Den in the building with two Thugs several times working my weapons, distracting them when lower leveled pirates come in for they hanky or arrest warrants.

We have an opportunity to change how we do things, I personally thought that if we hung out in a specific ocean and helped anyone in that ocean we could... no time restrictions needed.

Seems to me we can learn from what the CCG has done and take the best of it and merge it with the different reality of this game and come up with something that really helps others. Of all the ideas spent here it seems my first thoughtts are still spot on: Lots of people willing to help, but not a lot of ways of getting the people who need it to find us outside of this site and some word of mouth.

Now word of mouth can be powerful. Just go to busy servers and point people under level 10 to a thread/forum for the Pirate Raiders (or whatever it would be named) and get them to spread the word to others their own level as they get more into the game.

I propose we start off by running it as an extended event/test and see where it goes. If it works out to be something of substance we can ask for a sub forum here and elect some officers to help run it. Just because I started this thread doesn't mean I want to be chief here lol.

The reason I am leaning toward non specific events/times is that it will be a challenge enough to find enough people who need help to keep the people willing to help busy, but limiting what they can ask for to only a couple of times a day would remove much of the attractiveness. I mean you are only level 20 once and need kingshead twice and do you really want to wait half a day for it? Then between them you need something at sea so what if that time isn't until after the last kingshead run for the night? You would end up having to wait for the next day, or making friends with the helpers and having them help you outside the run times.

To me I like to help, but I don't really want to add a whole bunch of strangers to my friends list and we are not looking to recruit people to our guild. I'd still love to help out as many strangers as I can, but help them and move on. Having hourly or bi-hourly run times for any event would give a place to meet, have the people going together crew up, and go get it donw and move on.

Proposed rules:
1. To be in the group you must be willing to help anyone with any task you are able to assist with. This means even just running and showing someone a dig spot or help find a NPC they lost etc. You agree to let others pilot your ship if they need the experience on a higher level ship than they have. You will also help anyone no matter what their skill level is. If someone sinks your ship right away you will not simply dump them and give up. You don't lose anything by sinking so you agree to stick with it and really try to help them learn it! Failure to follow this rule may get you tossed out of the group.

2. We will help anyone, but those in need of help cannot expect or demand helpers to add them to their guilds or friends lists. Helpers can of course invite them to either at their discretion.

3. All those in need of help will try to be clear about what they need and respect the groups they end up going with. Demanding to take charge/drive or otherwise not playing nice may be grounds enough to have the helper(s) de-crew you and move on to helping those who are in need and able to conduct themselves in a better manner. You will not be helped if you fail to be nice and respect the needs of everyone else in your party.

4. The helpers will attempt to be as clear as possible up front over how the event will run. They will help decide who is driving what boat to where for what etc so no one can get upset about not being able to do the things they wanted. Whenever possible you will try to help everyone in the party out by letting them take turns driving, take turns healing, etc so everyone has a chance to take part and earn skills.

5, Everyone agrees that it may be necessary to combine multiple tasks into one group and that you may end up going alone with parts of a group after things you do not need in order to get to the things you do need. It simply doesn't make sense to make several sea parties for going after skeletons, EITC, or Navy as seperate groups but rather have everyone in need go together and take out all targets until everyone has what they need. Likewise Kingshead I and II can be done together as well as the two different tasks in the thieves den, or say someone needing skeletons while someone else needs to dig near where some skeletons can be found. You will find people willing to help, but you may have to do things for others as well to get there.

Is there anything else people can think of as general rules or needs not addressed here?

If we can find some common agreement we can list this as a starter event with a basic set of rules and see where it goes from there. As always, your input is welcome, even if you just want to say this is a lame idea.

All of us mods/admins have got one started, but it's in its early stages. We have a test and open guild. I'm still trying to get a name approved for test, but they accepted POForums without problems on open.

I know you guys have your own guild, but are you saying you are organizing events to help out lower level people that is open to everyone from other guilds? If so, that's awesome and I'll pitch in. If not, I'm talking about a non guild specific group. Anyone/everyone helps anyone who needs it kind of thing, no matter what guild you are already in, or even if you have a guild.

We haven't had time to set up any events or even set up rules yet. We're still lacking a lot in members so we've just been helping anyone that requests help at any time. Most of us mods are 12 lvl through 24 lvl so we can pretty much help anyone with whatever their quests are. I believe we've been mainly concentrating on helping other guild members, but I have stopped to help other players if they requested help. This game really is a team based playing style for many of it's quests so the more help we can give to each other the better.

I really like some of your ideas above and it will certainly give us something to consider.
