Wink Why wont my passwords/screen names stay saved/open??

Usually when I go to yahoo.com, POF, my other e-mails, social networking sites....etc I don't have to log in, they are already logged in for me. But now every time I go to one of these sites they ask for my screen names and passwords. No matter how many times I click the box that says "stay logged in" or "remeber password/screen name" it wont keep it. What is wrong???

Does turning my computer off simply by turning off the power strip that its all plugged too, have anything to do with it? I do that cause sometimes when I press Turn Off computer, or shut down...it wont shut down.

The latest update it IE 8 has an option to clear all cookies at log off. If you just updated to IE 8, that option may be selected. Check it out and see if that may be it.

In Firefox, under Tools->Options, go to the Security tab. Make sure "Remember passwords for sites" is checked, also check to see if any of the sites you mentioned are listed under Exceptions. If they are, remove them.

It probably doesn't have much to do with it, but shutting the computer off in that fashion is not good for the hard disk at all or your operating system. The cause of that may just be a service or something running that just won't close all the way and makes it hang. Has it always done this?

Last time I tried it, I was able to launch ToonTown from Firefox. I remember being pleasantly surprised they had finally allowed Firefox users to do so. I couldn't imagine why they didn't in the first place as the launcher is just Flash-based.

I use Safari and its the same... I got use to typing it in. And Its only in this site too. Potco along with all the other Password based sites I use keeps my user name saved. Passwords I believe should be typed in always.

The types of logins being referenced maintain that login information, etc via cookies.
Sounds like there is some issue going on with cookies to me.

Question: If you go to POF, login, have it set to remember you. You close your browser completely (all browser windows). Reopen browser, and go to POF, are you still logged in? or must you log in again? If you have to login again, I would say there is an issue with cookies being saved. If it does log you in, until you restart your system, then I would say you have something clearing your cookies upon startup (or shutdown) of your PC. Also, if you are shutting down by shutting off the power switch and not properly logging off the system, it may not save all information still in memory (ie some cookie data).
