Ship Names? - Pirates of the Caribbean Online Fansite & Forums

Does anyone know the exact date that the new ship names are going to be released? I sold my war galleon in anticipation and I refuse to buy another war ship until the names are available (I'm not that rich). I'm getting pretty antsy over here, lol.

Aren't they on test already? Usually takes a week or two before the test stuff is moved live.

Aye, they are available on test and, frankly, i think they're really nice. Theres another, yes cool, but way to stall us. It isn't really working. I'm not complaining but, they need to pick up the pace lol. Hope they come on live sometime next week. I'm gonna but a new war sloop and call it something like Wicked Witch (like it cuz its funny) or Maelstrom (i like it cuz its cool sounding, i know if i was sailing and a ship called Wicked Maelstrom came beside me, i'd be scared to death haha) or something. HAHA

Wicked Witch is what I wanna name my war galleon! Haha. I have a feeling there'll be a lot of Wicked Witches on the water once the names are released.

I think its a shame we can't change our current names.. I don't really want to sell and re-buy my ships just to rename them... but i DO want to change their names

Is the reason youse are all wanna call it the Wicked Witch is it is like the Wicked Wench.( The name of teBlack Pearl before it was sank to the bottom of the Ocean by the E.I.T.C)

well i wish that you could change a ships name even after you buy it
because, what if you dont want that name that you gave your ship and want to change it, you have to sell it and buy another one, why cant you re-christen your old war frigate? i dont know

Well having worked in adminstration of games (on a much smaller scale) I can tell you that name changing is a major pain. People would be changing their names hourly in some cases, it also puts a burden of responsibility on us. To sail right and true. There are those that would go on a voyage, have bad luck and want to change their ship name because it was bad luck, and be changing them every voyage! There would be griefers that would grief another bunch of pirates sailing around, go in change our name and come right back to grief them again. Everyone tends to think of the "Pro" sides, without considering the "Cons" for both the players, and the games administration. Plus pirates werent changing their ship names for the most part, not saying it never happened, but it didnt happen that often.

I guess from my perspective, im thinking Why SHOULD we be able to change our ship names when in reality its generally never done. Maritime records of old would be useless if captains changed their ship names over and over.

They are just adding ship names to the list, thats it, people need to realize this and get over it. Its like when they add small quests to the game, after us maxed pirates have already maxed out, and the quests are of little or no value. We complain about it wanting a new story quest, and notoriety cap raised, yet we get told by the newer pirates all the time that we are just whining.. well.. if the shoe fits!

Zep, does changing your ships' name after you buy it hold a cannon(candle) to switching one pirate from one account to another? I don't think they do this in pirates, but I think they used to with toontown.

Well, I don't think I'll be using the new ship names. All I'm saying is, if everyone wants to use the new names, then having an original ship name isn't going to happen.

Well probably not the same. Changing a pirate/toon from one account to another, is also definately done by POTCO. However this is not a simple process, and requires someone call in, spend a deal of time on the phone, and not just run up to the shipwright to change their shipname, which im pretty sure is what many people think you should be able to do. Big difference. Maybe if they let people go through a name change request process, that took 24-48 hours to process or something.
