Question Explorer 8, is it freaking any one elses system out?

So a couple days ago i did a full reformat, I usually do this once or twice a year just for the heck of it, and especially after that whole April Fools virus scare. While bringing my system back up to date (I am running XP SP-3), I decided to install the new Internet Explorer 8. I had been using mainly Fire Fox, but it had got to where Fire Fox was lacking a bit on what pop-ups it blocked, and IE-8 was supposidly the best rated browser according to a few sources for blocking unwanted pop-ups and spy ware from getting in your system. Now while using IE-8 I have blocked just about any thing that could be thrown at me while browsing a few not so great web-sites I check out from time to time (not for what you think, I like to catch up on alot of my tv shows I miss, and movies (not those lol) and a couple asian based sites that resemble YouTube allow me to watch alot of things I can't). Well, it works great in those cases, but I have froze up my browser, locked up my entire system... get constant error reports even just using the browser for basic things. It seems to be unstable to me, or it could just be with my current system set up I dont know... Is any one else having these issues? Know of any good fixes? I was thinking maybe it is just because it is fairly new and still has a few bugs, but alot of what I am dealing with is pretty big stuff I figured would have been sorted out in beta testing.

I use Fire Fox as well... I just kinda like the increased security IE-8 seems to be bringing to the table... I guess it could just be an even trade off... I will keep messing with it I guess...

Firefox lacks a good visual loading system and constantly takes more time to load videos and pictures and those are on most websites so it basically loads most websites slower than IE8 I use IE8 a lot, but I recommend Google Chrome because it loads quicker.

Other alternatives that work well are Opera, Safari and SeaMonkey. Google Chrome was already mentioned and runs very smooth. I personally am not impressed at IE8.....I would have thought Microsoft would have given it more of a face lift as well.

Explorer is working fine with me. I sometimes use Safari and Firefox. Try to delete all cookies, temp internet files, and history...that might help.

Thumbs up

I clear out my cookies and temp files every day ... For some reason today IE-8 seems to be much more stable. I think I may have gotten an update for it at some point today because it is running 10x's better. I have 3 windows running right now, one with hulu, one with yahoo web-messenger, and one posting this comment no problems at all. I dont think I will be going back to Fire Fox any time soon, thanks for all the input mates.

I have been using a beta copy of Windows 7 that comes with IE8 and I dont have any problems. It blocks almost all my popups. There a few that come thru every once in a while.

Internet Explorer and Kaspersky blocks practically everything (Kaspersky being a $20 or so antivirus and more software with subscription for a year that you can install by disk or download). Mozilla occasionally has a popup. It may just be the sites you go to. Those Asian-based sites as you call them sorta sound like pirate sites in the most modern sense of the world.
