Okay so I had some terrible virus on my computer and after trying everything under the sun I decided to just reformat my hard drive. I did a full system restore last weekend. Since then I've obviously had to download a bunch of windows and HP updates, years worth. I think everything is current at this time. So last night we downloaded pirates and when I try to log it it just goes to the "report a bug" page. Under the password box on the log-in it does say "Pirates has encountered a.." the rest does not show up on the screen. What am I supposed to do short of canceling my subscription and forgetting the whole thing.
----------------- I was able to log in at my parents house for a second when I ran over there. Someone in my guild suggested uninstalling and then reinstalling the game. I did this and it did seems like it wos going to work. Loaded the updates etc.. However it's still just giving my the report a bug page. I tried using the directx9 option as I didn't know what else to do at this point and still nothing. Anyone?? -Stacey Last edited by TooHip; 02-01-2009 at 05:26 AM.. Reason: double post |

I hate to sound like live chat, but, did you disable (or at least neuter) windows firewall, yet?

LOL I'm such a dumby. In fact I opened my antivirus thing yesterday and almost did that but then after the whole insane virus which disabled my computer in the first place I changed my mind. Thank you for taking me back to square one. I guess now we know why live chat always starts with the most obvious advice, somtimes we just forget the small stuff. Thanks so much! Someone feel free to close this thread so no one else has to waste their time opening it.

Wait, let me take that back. Once you've been a virus target (hit) your IP will usually get blitzed for quite a while afterward. Turn windows firewall back on; properly enter the exception for port 7667 then exempt launcher1.exe and pirates.exe explicitly. (Re: closing thread; you'd be amazed how many people *AHEM-NOT ME* do this exact same thing.)
Boy, what a lesson in humility it was, after getting irate with live support, only to discover my router had the wrong DMZ! Duh, I guess it was a firewall issue, after all. Duh, duh, duh. *Headdesk* |

this sounds exactly like the problem im having. login screen changes then crashes to bug report and pirates login page.. i tried entering a new port but am not sure if i did it right. heres steps i took. if wrong can some one please correct me..
opened up windows firewall. turned it off. at top there are 3 tabs general, exceptions and advanced. i chose exceptions . window changes to one with some programs listed in as exceptions currently running such as IE trillian etc. there are 4 tabs under the list being add program , add port , edit delete. i got to add port. click on it . another window comes up. it has place to type Name and under it port number. below that are 2 check boxes marked tcp and udp . tcp is checked . i hit ok . i named it pirates. it then shows up on exceptions list. so now to add the programs . i click add program button. a whole list of things comes up all programs. i find pirates program and add it. then add the launcher and then again add pirates .exe. my question is this did i do it right. cause it still not letting me past login page . i made sure game-options say working version 14 and api is pandadx9. did i check the wrong tcp box or should it be udp.when i try to log in and the crash happens i check the cashe and it has 800 files in it each time. i clear it each time as well. help please Last edited by Walker Boh; 02-01-2009 at 02:46 AM.. |
