replace jacks key quest

anyone else on the replace jack's key portion of the second list quest. it says to find a key by sinking a skeleton frigate but also says sink navy ships to find a replacement for jack's key. i have sunk every level of navy ship and each type of skeleton ship with no message of even searching for key, i think it might be capturing but since there is never a message when you capture if it is searching for an item i dont know if i should keep going. anyone past this or experiencing same problem?

I don't remember having a problem with finding the key. And gosh I'm trying to recall which ship I had to sink, but there's been so many things are starting to blur lol If you had to capture, it would say flagship. But I think you only have to capture/board when looking for people. I dont remember having to board when I've been looking for items.

keep sinking, it's random I believe and can take some time.

I just went from 17 to 20 sailing trying to complete this quest and still no luck. A little bit of everything was sunk...probably a lot of everything.
Has anyone completed it recently?
