Where is POTCO going?
I haven't been on in a while, mostly due to lack of content and bug fixes.
Besides me where do most of you think POTCO is going? Do you think they'll get better or worse? Do you think they realized what a big mistake it was,*cough*, releasing POTCO too early just so it would get out before POTBS?(pirates of the burning sea) So where do you think POTCO's headed? |

Mac, I don't think you realize that games don't always start out with all the content
ToonTown was like POTCO is now, people where very mad about lack of content POTCO is coming along nice and Remember MMOs don't always start like WoW ( Which I don't play lol ) I think POTCO is heading in a good direction

Pirates is still in a baby stage and I feel that we all need to just be patient and wait for the next year.Online games take to to evolve and I thing that there will be some big things comming in the future...Just my oppinion they are trying hard to head in the right direction but again we should wait out the dry times cuz thing are always better for thos who wait

Well..havent been on in a while, ill give ye my opinion though
![]() It looks to me like they are trying to improve things as they go along. The bugs and everything might last for what.. a month at the most? and then Poof! its gone. Disney is doing alot of stuff now, while they are not "geniuses" at designing online games, I have to say they are doing very impressive for a bunch of game designing noobs ![]() So basically it is a work in progess, I think that the bigs updates they have dont should have stayed on test server for a little longer to work out the bugs/glitches a little better, but still, a bunch of people wanted that update, so they released it. So I think POTCO is heading into a more positive position. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being the worst, what rank would you guys give the game? I would give it: |

I have to disagree with most the posts here defending Disney.
They chose a path, and it was a terrible choice. That path was focus on basically one small part of the game and nothing else. Ship versus ship, pvp, the curse. In other words only things dealing with pirate versus pirate content. All along ignoring doing anything about the continued Notoriety problem, and lack of content. Other aspects to the game for all players, was absolutely put on a back burner, while work went more and more into fixing glitches in svs, or pvp. Never saw once work or fixes on any of my pirates stuck at 40 when they keep fighting and get nothing for it. I did see quite a few degrades to these pirates making sure it was more even play ground for what? Pvp, svs, curse yup. Why, so we could have tournaments in something like svs, unlimited players could go to basic, and use number keys to use unlimited skills against regular basic players. Then us unlimited had to sit and listen to complaints that we shouldn't be powerful at level 40 unlimited. There is no baby stage, when the decision is made to blow off the main paying customers, to work on a side thing to the game, and develop it to even play to any and all players. This was a CHOICE made to empty guilds, exit players from the game, not to increase them. Its simple, everyone has wanted content, notoriety increased, something to go forward as long back as I can remember. What did we get. What has changed here? If they won't listen to the people, well the people leave. No, things are not being fixed in a timely period. Hex shot was the old way for 9 months, more, when it got changed. Where some things like players having their ships stuck at sea have been fixed quickly, by no means a thing or two is everything. There are still wall glitches and such that has been in the game since I can remember as well. None of these were fixed, they were worked around, with letting enemies walk through anything. For a more recent thing, maybe some should check their own posts before stating things are fixed in a month. Such as Express Desolation, ring a bell, posted early in November and still in the game. The facts are people are leaving, and not getting much hope at seeing a event that the time is stated for a week and its cut short to receive a item and with a full intventory. Then followed up with a double gold, and hat retrieval again, with a time working out to months in hours. Who is typing these things in, that is absolutely not on the same page as everyone else? The Uk release is the only possibility of maybe something coming to the game. After some of us spent months waiting for the BB to work, I can't say there is a lot of hope even at this. Work has been set at upgraded weapons to slow down leveling. Hex shot probably was changed for a similar reason. Degrades to characters in cannon, dagger, and all pvp related damage. While the non stop plea month after month has been to go forward, to get bigger to have more content. Not a single thing has come. So as we wait for desolation to be fixed, or undead glitch, and a few other pvp related issues, nothing else happens still. Test is only as good as doing something about the information they get from testers, the previous ignore most everything, and release it anyways, has not gone well. |

I hear ya...many have been frustrated. I've been playing much less and will wait to see what changes are coming in 2009. We've got to give them a chance since the game is only one year old. Did they launch too soon with not enough content and plans to expand...perhaps. However....here we are, we either hang in there or quit. I'm going to hang tight for a while and see what Disney decides to do to keep us paying members active.
One nice expansion (to start with) would undoubtedly keep me interested. Say, some new ships, ability to hold more clothing, new clothes, expanded map, more interesting quests....etc. Heck, the Pirates games for the PSP have characters and options this game doesn't. If things don't change in the next few months, then I will switch to basic access until major changes are made. In conclusion, I do believe we've all vented our frustrations and want changes ASAP. We can only beat this to death for so long. So we either stay on the War Frigate or walk the plank. I personally hope for positive things to come. ![]() Robert Darkskull Pistols N Bladez |

Poison Elf makes some great points above.
I'm astounded that someone would suggest the "skeleton" glitch has been fixed. It is perhaps the oldest, reported glitch. The only thing "fixed" about it was the only excusable aspect of it (appearance) instead of the resulting infinite ammo, or the resultant Tortuga lag storming. Glitches like invincibility (ship and pirate) become more complicated, but have never been eliminated. Despite the fact that they negatively affect other players. The game leaks memory worse than anything I've seen, anywhere, still. Just as it has, since I first previewed it. Scene changes still don't release stale objects. There is a lot of room for improvement. I hope 2009 is much brighter, with content additions instead of stop-gap measures. |

Some good posts here.
Want to clear up something, though. Quote:
I just wanted to see what some of you thought. Poision elf has a great post. I agree that there is no "baby stage". Pirates hasn't been providing much of what the players want lately. That's probably due to the small staff. I'm thinking maybe they should hire some guys from WOW just to pick up the pace. Last edited by MacIronhawk; 01-03-2009 at 01:15 AM.. |

It seems that Disney has been spending a lot of time working on glitches instead of bringing out new content. Granted, that is a good thing, as far as it goes. I think most people probably want to play the game for fun rather than any other reason they may or may not have. Content is what I think will drive the fun. It took a long time to fix the Boss Battle, but it's been fixed for probably as long as was down now. I can live with a few glitches, even if they give some players an advantage, so long as the following conditions are met:
The glitches don't cause problems for play (most of the time). POTCO works on fixing them. We get regular content updates. There have been some new quests over the 1st year, along with other upgrades, but the game needs more content (Boss Battle II, Kraken battle, etc). Granted it takes time to develop content, but at 14 months out, shouldn't we being seeing something? At the very least it would be nice to hear what they are working on, instead of vague statement about new stuff in 2009. I enjoy the game, but don't play as much as I used to as there is little to do. Unless new content is forthcoming I'm in a situation where my $10 per month would be better used elsewhere. |

I have four pirates at level 40 and two master pirates
I have to say the game is getting frustrating at this point. I am at least in a guild that talks a good bit and helps make the game a little bit more fun but what I want is to be able to reach level 50 (or even 45 at this point) instead of having to linger here. I would love for a massive battle against Jolly Roger to be formed as guilds compete against one another to defeat JR and his cronies as soon as possible. Heck, just add the option to battle Jolly Roger and that would suffice at this point.
Most of the friends I made with my first pirate, Ben Firespinner, back in May or so have left the game by now. It is very rare to see one on. Write Disney and ask for more content. Let them know you are unhappy. I would be willing to pay a little more to get to see some new content. *sigh* c'mon Disney |

I just this past weekend got my pirate to level 40, but have been bored with the game since mastering my voodoo staff several levels ago. Sure there are some minor quests that can be worked from the various pub keeps and such, but for the most part level 40 is a major wall. Most that I talk to tell me to start a new pirate but really where is the fun in doing it all over again if nothing is going to be different? It's the same game, just with a different looking person.
Big deal. As for bugs, man this game is full of them. Most have been in place since I started playing this past summer, and some are even new. Has anybody tried to exit the ammo shop on skeleton beach recently? I think during the Christmas update the door no longer properly recognizes that you entered so when you exit the shop, you appear to glitch in to he wall, which requires you to spin your screen around until you find a wall to walk through. But don't walk through the wrong one or you'll get stuck between the outside wall and a fence. This is EXTREMELY annoying since I spent a ton of time on skeleton beach leveling weapons and need to enter this shop constantly to buy more ammo. The worst bug is the enemies ability to attack even though you're a level or two above or below them. Why hasn't this been fixed yet? If I'm running across a catwalk above a bunch of soldiers, they shouldn't be able to swing their cutlass at me. If it weren't for the fact that my whole family currently plays and I'm in a guild with a lot of great people, I'd probably be canceling my account right about now. I'll hold out a bit longer, but if Disney doesn't at least ANNOUNCE some major updates and changes, I'll be shutting my account down and finding another MMORPG to play. |

Egads - is this ANOTHER infinite ammo glitch, where you keep the ammo dialog open then glitch outside to attack, then purchase new ammo without going back inside? As if the skeleton glitch were not enough...
