Uh-huh - That's right - What they said - Ditto

I'm really not sure if this is the correct place for this but I have a brief comment about posting replys to threads. More times than I can count, I see members posting replys to a question that has already precisely and accurately been answered. Their answer is usually along the lines of the title of this thread or they simply reiterate or paraphrase what has already been given as an answer. This does not happen with all posts, as many of them are opinion based and call for more than a single person's response. The ones that bug me are the posts where someone asks "What level does Silver ammo unlock for Pistol" and the first reply states that it unlocks at Pistol level 17. Then you see a bunch of posts several hours apart, simply repeating the answer.

Now I'm not one to complain (ok, so I am) but is it really that important to get to 2000 posts that you need to add to an already factual answer? To me, it just creates a lot of clutter and "hey, look at me, another post". Personally I would like to see a little more content to responses. If a response includes something like "It might just be me", "In my opinion", or the like, then by all means post away. We don't need to read the equivalent of "Crime and Punnishment" in every thread, but I personally get tired of seeing new posts that simply include a "LOL".

Enough for the rant, now let's get on with the Uh-huhs, That's rights, and Dittos or even the Nays, Nuh-uhs, or Whatevers if you choose (I am asking for your opinions, so I do not mind those answers here).

Its all about the post count!!! Who cares of someone just said it, its all about that number by my name. The one that says I post a lot, but dont say how meaningful or helpful it is. Yep, that one

ok idk about u but when i ask a question i like more than one response from multiple members to verify that it is correct which is the reason i back up others is so the starter of the thread sees 2 or more of the same answer and then that would be moderate proof that the information is right

I have nothing to add but a LOL....oh dear, I just upset the Monk....

But Seriously, I agree. A gagillion, "Oh yes, what the first person said is the right way to do it" posts are a bit much.

What we (and I'm saying "we" as a collective POTCO community) could try to work on, are some serious "This is how the game works" threads, and get those threads stickied. I've answered countless "what are the treasures for", "where is the EITC Hideout", "How do I accopplish such-and-such" threads. Don't get me wrong, I'll help out anywhere I can. I do, however think that if we could create a "go-to" spot for...(pardon, i don't mean to sound rude, I was once one myself ) "Newbie" questions, we could save a lot of time and server space.

i agree bc yes alot of newer players (i dont blame them when i was newer i asked the same questions) have the same questions like u said but i think even with sticky threads they would still start their own threads

****. On a side note, I think we need to see the SEARCH feature enforced more often....possibly a Search smiley? Or even a mod coming in and closing the thread and posting, "Please do a search, this topic has been discussed numerous times. Thanks"

I know I used to do that on the other forums I modded.

If you do that, some people will complain as well, and start making posts about the mods closing them. I agree that they should have sticky threads about these questions people ask day after day though.

Not adding a "Uh-huh - That's right - What they said - Ditto" here, just stating my opinion! :P If I had a sig, I would definately add that to it though haha. Then I could just post, READ SIG.

Well, as I said....Ive been a mod on about 5 automotive forums and an Admin on one. Not once have I seen anyone complain about the mods closing a thread. Especially if theres a sticky at the top that says before posting please use a search to see if theres a similar question already listed. Its part of obeying the forum rules, and common knowledge.

this idea is actually pretty good its just when seraching people (sorta like me) get tired of sifting though hundreds of pages of threads so its just easier to start a new one for instance i search peridia diamond it will bring up everythread containg the words peridia or diamond lucky for us right now the POF is not bad its forum base is still small compared to its siter sites like VMKF @_@

Well, the thing I'm hopin for is if they do implement the search function more, there should only be a few threads to sort through with the answer, instead of 100 "Where do I find the Perdida Diamond" threads unanswered.

People have different opinions and different answers to questions, and some answers are more right than others.

If a thread it no longer usefull and the problem originally reported by the person who opened the topic has been resolved then it deserves a lock.

If you created the thread you should have permission to lock it, but it doesn't seem to be the case, so they tend to stay open allowing people to come in and skip past all the posts and they reply.

I know I'm guilty of this, but in my defence, I try and add more information or even a screen shot to make it easier if anyone else needs help and drops by.

Unfortunately the only one that can lock a thread is the forum mod of that forum. However with the multiple threads on the same subject, the forum mods will be very busy "cleaning up". Not a fun job and gets very tedious. Nip it in the bud I say.

Thanks for everyone opinion on this subject. We've been fairly laxed in our moderation of the forums so far. It's still a fairly new site and people are still learning the game as well as where things are on the site. From the over all sound of things, we may need to step up on our moderation of the forums to help clean up the forums a bit.

Well, sometimes people post at the same time, so then its okay...some people just like to add more details or make it sound more lucid, and then theres other people who are just too darn lazy to read the other posts (me cough cough)

I understand the early growing pains and will continue to answer questions with the post that has already been created on the subject and what search topics I used to find the post. Thanks for the attention and I look forward to the changes, however small they may be.

Ummm... Someone already replied with that. Try reading the posts. Just kidding, of course. I just had to respond like that when you said you were too lazy to read the other posts.
