Returning to the Seas
As I look back on my experience with Pirates, I must attest to the striking features that led me to begin in the first place. It was the sailing, the plundering, the sheer adventure (whilst enjoying the company of friends and guild) that made some of my fondest memories. But in time, like many of you, I too became fed up with the administration's lack of commitment to the game. The adventure became routine, and routine became too many goodbyes - goodbyes to some of the most loyal friends I have ever made.
Just as well, I must attest to the games overwhelming (and beautiful) influences: During my time, I heard countless love stories of how couples who met on the game later married. And for personal experience, I have known some of my fellow pirates for five years now - people whom I talk with everyday (and wouldn't have it any other way!) My desire for more adventure made me blind to what the game truly had to offer: friendship. I was mistaken in my belief that the adventure was what kept me going; it was the friends with whom I played with. Therefore, with great anticipation, I have decided to return to the game. I look forward to meeting many new friends and seeing the old ones return. Best regards to all, Crim |

Crim,Welcome back to POTCO! Maybe we'll cross paths sometime soon in the Caribbean? Hope so, like you I think I've said more than my fair share of Goodbyes to some very fine pirates, so maybe a Welcome Back could start to turn the tide. so WELCOME BACK! Kriss |

Welcome Back!
I'm glad you figured out the greatest treasure all true pirates eventually discover: Friendships we've forged during our whirlwind adventures are the reasons why we keep sailing these special waters. All else is secondary. |

"Plat" is precisely right ; In fact if it weren't for constantly finding new and interesting pirates to keep my company on those long and arduous Materials Runs and Looting Sessions, I think I would probably have quit the game LONG ago. But, for every Friend and Guild mate I've said my farewells to, I've found two new pirates to keep me going... That and I think I'm likely to have more Pirates and Accounts of my own than Friends and Guild mates soon. ![]() Kriss. |

Crim,
Welcome back mate. And you're right. 5 years can have so many things happen. I've watched young guildmates grow up. Some finished school and went on to college. We've had guildies come together. Two of my officers have a lovely little pirate toddler now. I would be happy to friend you Crim, anytime - even invite you to join the Elite Thievery Co. EC |

I would like to thank all of you for the gracious welcome-backs and words of encouragement. I would also like to thank those who made the game what it is. I have never encountered such an intimate atmosphere like Pirates Online. I've met players as if I've known them forever and I am grateful for the opportunity to have known them.
To those who continue to play, let us continue to advocate the qualities of true and honest friendship as we work to establish a genuine brotherhood of players. |
