La Isla Olvidarse

Prologue
1629, Barbados

--------------------------v---------------------En Ingles-----------------------v--------------------------------

Dear King Phillip IV,

Davy Jones’ Locker.
I don’t like admitting it, but it’s hard to describe this new island with any other term. We have been exploring the new island for 2 full days now, and have lost too much crew to keep it up any longer. It isn’t very easy to describe the island. Well, from the outside, it just looked like a normal, wild, tropical island that wouldn’t take even a week to conquer for our country. But it didn’t take a day to find out something was wrong with it. It seems impossible, but the island contained... man-killers. You won’t believe what I say as you read this, so maybe a day by day explanation will help.

Day One-
We anchor our 4 vessels not far out from the land, and one sloop of men row over to the island. Upon beaching, the men (6 of them if I remember correctly) went into the thick jungle that seemed to make up most of the small island. From the ships, we didn’t see anything new happen until an hour or two later, two of those explorers came back on their dinghies with some news. Apparently they had seen some “fish men” in this island--described as greyish-blue and -green, scaly, human-like people with gills and fins, most of them slightly taller than the crew. They also ran faster than any human and jumped a few feet higher too. When the two survivors had arrived, the sun was setting, so we decided to sleep on the ships and check it out again the next day.

Day Two-
I went with a crew of 11, including the two survivors, to look deeper at the island again, and see if the monsters had any weaknesses. On the way in, we stealthily made our way towards the center of the land. There was a clearing with a pond, where we watched a couple fish men actually dive in, not returning. It seemed like their hearing was worse than ours, because when one clumsy fellow accidentally shot a pistol, no fish men came after us. Although, on the way out, we heard some kind of shriek, and some of them attacked. They’re too fast for blades, and we shot a few, but they seemed mainly unharmed and just more motivated to kill us. Voodoo couldn’t penetrate their souls and someone threw a few grenades, but again--the fish men were too fast, and sometimes even threw the bombs back our way. Five men were killed by the monsters, but the remaining six of us knew we were never meant to set foot on the island. That afternoon, we circled the island to see if there was anything interesting around back. Looked the same the whole way around. We slept on the ships for the second night. Then, in the middle of the night we heard the sound of boards breaking and splashing. We went out to look and what we saw--I had never seen anything like it, but it sure reminded me of the Kraken legend. At the surface of the water, the galleon’s boards were indeed snapping, and eventually the ship just dragged down into the ocean. It must have also been those fish-man buggers. When we watched some of the galleon’s mates start swimming, they shot down under, like the fish men pulled them in. It all seemed like more of a warning than a rampage, as they didn’t come after any other ships.

So we accepted their deadly warning, and now here we are at Barbados, with our two sloops and my war frigate. Sadly, we won’t be getting the galleon back. Well, I hope this helps explain things. We surely won’t ever be able to communicate with the fish men, even if they would make a great addition to the army. And they have obviously shown that they cannot be defeated without losing too much Spanish men. I’m afraid we will just have to hunt around for another island. Tomorrow we will be going out eastward with another fleet to search for any further islands, and hopefully we won’t encounter the impossible misfortune of that first island. I’ll write back when we find something new. We will find land to build that Spanish base, your highness, I assure you.
Sincerely,
Captain Rivera

My first fan fic! Hope you like it. To clarify, it's an English copy of a letter from a Spanish explorer to the King.

I want to include as many player pirates as possible, so if you want your pirate(s) in the coming chapters, please reply, and tell me what their personality will be like. I hope to see a lot of you in the story!
Player pirates who will be in the story (so far):
Tough Cookie (I may rename him)
Capt. Wolf Moonhawk
Mazorko
Davy Fireskull (not the GM)
Capt. Roger Swordshot
