Graphics Options on Launcher
On the Launcher there are Graphics - Open GL, Directx8, Directx9.
I wanted to know, which one has the highest game qaulity - or does it depend on your computer. IE: Pirate Guy's pictures are always crystal clear - is that GL, x8, or x9 - OR is it a good computer? |

It's having a great video card. You can have a lot of RAM and great sound with that new desktop or laptop, but without that great ATI or nVidia video card, you got nothing.
Some of those cards require OpenGL. The best is x9. I use it for my ATI card. One of these days I'll switch comps and start using that new nVidia to play pirates with. When I do, I'll have to find the right settings for it. lol |

So it's a new computer, not the options, but x9 is the best option.

Not quite. New computer is best because it has more RAM and a faster processor. That is true.
However, it still needs the best video card to clearly draw it at the highest quality. Depending on which video card you have, ATI or nVidia, you need to launch v9 first to see if it works 'smoothly'. If it doesn't which you can test at sea, then choose Open GL because your card uses it. Either x9, or Open GL will show great visuals, but its how smooth they perform according to its native hardware that will determine it. |
