A couple of months back, I had an experience that I'd now like to share here. It was a conversation with a guy, who wanted to level up his sailing for a war frigate. Made me want to explode!

Me: Oh, I see you're two levels away from it on sailing.
Him: ya
Him: a little bit more i level or teen
Him: to fort teen
Me: I'd probably destroy the ships before you could get a hit in.
Him: can i take your ship
Me: Yes, of course.
Him: ill drive
Me: I have to go to Tortuga quickly - repairs.
Him: OK TELEPORT TO MAKE IT QUICK

You probably detected that I was trying to get out of it.

1. Duh, you'll need to drive if you're to level sailing!
2. Does he think I don't know how to teleport?

Madness. After we docked (we got about six cargo crates) he said he wanted to do ship PvP to get more rep. We all know that you don't get rep or loot from fighting normal ships in PvP!

Anyone else had strange conversations like this? I understand that some people aren't all there, but... yeah.

Lots of kids in the game. He probably heard the word "no" a lot being lower level also. New players rarely know svs doesnt pay rep. I had a nine year old follow me around all week...I finally crewed him to gun on Victory Star in svs...he was only level 23 on guns but he was awesome, and very polite to everyone. (younger cousin of a friend, so I'm sure hes nine...lol)...games are full of annoyances...but rewards of helping outweigh that , and many will be a better game participant because of it.

Heres one, once I was doing a guild pride thing on abassa and a random pirate came up to me and said:

Him: Wanna PVP?
Me: Sorry, im doing a guild pride thing for my guild.
Him: But I need rep(Hes a level 45)
Me: Ya know pvp dosent give rep?
Him: Then how did I get to this level?
Me: You could have leveled with your weapons.
Him: But I pvp alot.
Me: And your point is?
Him: Wanna pvp?
me: ....

And it goes on and on until I said i gtg

When you've played the game for three years like me, you're bound to run into this stuff.

I remember once I was playing on Tiberius back when he was a level... 28 or 29 I think. Some guy came up to me and said that he had a staff. I wasn't in the greatest mood, so I just said "That's great." Instead of leaving, he went on about how he was a higher level than me and how he was better and bla bla bla. I told him that I had a level 50 (that would be Davy Fireskull) and then what did he say? "I have a level 70." I told him that wasn't possible, but he insisted. I kinda just gave up after a while. He was being really irritating, and one of those kind of people that thinks he's the best and all that.

I'm sure there are more, but this is the only one I can think of off the top of my head.

I'm a people pleaser, and I hate saying no, even when I really don't want to go somewhere else. I've started to do my own thing, regardless of what anyone tells me. More of a piratey mood, also.

That level 45 sure didn't know much about the game, James. That conversation was crazy.

As for Davy's story, I see how annoying that conversation probably was. I hate it when my lower characters are insulted. That guy had probably only just got the staff (just assuming he was level thirty or so) and was showing it off as if it was the most wonderful thing in the world. I did that when I got it. It was wrong to insult someone about not having a staff, though. When you said you had a level 50, he might have been overwhelmed and wanted to show off even more. He was probably an overexcited youngster. It was silly of him to say he had a level 70!

Had a nub DEMAND that i gave him my staff (he was lv 7...) he said that he was a GM, and hed ban me for not giving it to him... so i was like... e.e.....(SMOKE BOMB) and i ran off...

There REALLY should be a report button for impersonating a GM... unless there already is, I'm not sure. Its been a while since I've reported someone. I've seen a few people pretend that they are GM's or the kid of a GM and usually you see them bossing people around. I usually just ignore them because:

1) if they are a GM, they would already be able to really do anything in game. They could probably punch in a code and get a Lost Sword or something, so they don't need to have us do their bidding. Plus, they really don't have time to play the game for leisure.

2) even if they are the kid of a GM, the GM can't just ban them like that. They have to actually go through the whole process.

I also think that there should be a little box where you can type a brief description of what happened for certain types of reporting. If its cursing, you probably don't need to type something, but Rude or Mean Behavior is quite vague. It would be nice if you could type something like "This person excessively called me a noob and refused to stop after I told him over and over again." Although there comes the problem of less mature people typing that... "THIS STUPID PERSON WAS IN MY HOUSE AND REFUSED TO LEAVE AND SAID I DIDN'T OWN THE PLACE AND HE SHOULD BE BANNED FOREVER AND I WILL LEAVE THE GAME IF I SEE HIM AGAIN<insert excessive exclamation marks>"

Yeah, I doubt the POTCO staff would want to read that. There would be ups and downs, but over all it would help a bit...

Wow, you explained online families in one sentence.

I know what you mean. Sometimes someone manages to bully/harass someone else without actually using any bad language. Other online games I've been on have a box that you can write more on, though having one may lead to constant spam for the developers. I'd probably end up writing a long document about the player's rude behavior! I think it would benefit the game to have it, but maybe with a warning saying 'Use this box only if required - spam will lead to a violation/ban/permanent ban. Or, as an alternative, maybe it should only be for Open Chat users? Probably quite unfair.

This happened in a tavern on tortuga ( I was basic at the time, but had unlimited before and maxed all my weapons)
Him: Ben (me) pull out your grenades.
Me: I can't use them, I'm basic
Him: Dude I can see them! They're maxed!
Me: I had unlimited before and maxed them
Him: so take them out!
Me: I'm basic... I have to pay to get unlimited to be able to use them
Him: I'm unlimited, I don't pay! (oh really....)
Me: Well, I don't have unlimited, so it's locked
Him: I can see their maxed!! Just take them out!!!
Me: If you can get a GM to unlock it ... sure
Him: Dude their maxed so you can use them, otherwise you can max it, just take them out!

um..... what level was this dude? i wonder if his parents just payed for it themselves and he didn't "know" what basic is. *sigh*... high level noobs these days.

Way too many weirdos on this game. With that guy you spoke to, Jack, HE could be banned for pretending to be a GM, and ruisen2000... that guy just didn't get it. Your story amazed me.

I haven't been on in a while, but these do seem run-of-the-mill to me. Mostly why I only hang with guilds + friends.

Oh yeah, and Pixie, you can get loot pouches and chests and the like while sinking NPCs while PvPing. Might have been removed, but used to be a good way to get rare loot.

Thanks for the tip, WitchdoctorDan - I'll try that out. I think it might have been removed, as you say, though. Hector - that's creepy. And Nate, congratulations at your nearly-1000 posts!

In my early days, there was once this girl that I saw everywhere. She wasn't on my friends list, nor was she in the guild. She was just... everywhere. One day I got a whisper from her. It said:

"be my gf"

Scared me to death. I quickly said NO and ran away. I was soon told by my friend that she did exactly the same thing to her! Scary...

EDIT: Had another encounter yesterday, on Pixie Hollow. Reminded me of this thread, so here it is. It started with this girl whispering to me about my clothes.

Her: were u a member
Me: No.
Her: u dont have to shout
Me: I didn't.
Her: im reporting u
Me: Okay...

Probably mistook my speech for yelling. Weird person...
