Open Fire! (Battle Order)
Can someone tell me what this does and if it's worth taking; I didn't take it on my Beta character since I rarely sailed with a crew.
Is it just so you don't type the words, or does it actually auto fire cannons or something? If just to save typing, I don't see the need to waste a skill point.

I was wondering the exact same thing. I didn't take it on beta either because it seemed like a waste. lol I had a big hole in my sailing icons

I rarely waste skill points on passive skills. One thing I would do is the Take Cover command. It is been so helpful! Every time you are in the heat of battle and you see a huge load of cannon fire coming your way you hit that button and it blocks it. Sure it only blocks it once until it reloads, but sometimes one hit makes the difference between plunder and jail!
Happy Plundering! Maria Seamorgan

I think its supposed to cause an additional amount of damage per each hit until its timer expires. I want to say it was 30 percent, but maybe it lasts 30 seconds (but both could be wrong...).
Either way, I unlocked it on test but rarely remembered to use it. And, of course, its affect is dependant on your crew actually firing when you do use it. At any rate, I decided not to unlock it on open and save the skill point for something else.

Does seem a bit of a waste if your crew isn't the brightest...
"6 Seconds of Increased Damage" I put my skill into passive speed boost, the team boost doesn't seem worth it... |

Thanks guys! I think I'm going to pass on that one and use my skill point on something worth while.

this skill is defidently reliant on having a good crew that you sail with, i used in beta at times. The nice thing about this is also can be used as a battle cry- you can have the crew not fire while you sail into the best attack position and then use this skill as a signal for them to "Open Fire" ( very useful if you are attacking with a frigate and gaining positional advandtage by sailing up behind your targets with your crew all on the front guns.)

Thats a valid point pete.
If you have a good crew, this skill is invaluable, and it can be used as a signal to OPEN FIRE! considering all crew mates will be doing more damage, they will be going like crazy to make the most of it. |

It's very useful. I imagine at rank 5 the duration is much longer than lv 1. I tell my crew to fire, then when I see a steady stream of cannonballs, activate it. Helps.

Have you ever seen anyone say Open Fire? I've noticed the pirate as he uses the different things on his ship that it doesnt show to the crew(full sail and the quick turn are others that i dont see). Except for the shooting of the broadsides. I play two pirates at the same time is when i first noticed this.
So if the crew cant see the open fire what good would it be?.....later Ice...(get one of your friends to try it with you to see if any of the commands show for you) |

My buddy and I tested this the other night. He never saw the command when I used it, and there was no indication that he could see that he was getting that boost.
I'm not sure if it's bugged, or if it's really working... It's hard to tell. Given how "well" everything else works in this game... |
