They haven't tested the PDF invasions yet. Testers had a +2 Hours Tortuga invasion.

I just hope they really take their time on this update.

no if you didnt realize, it is a minor update. Right now, they're putting the game on maintenance to release this update. Its minor because the PDF invasions have been tested before, as I have seen in pics on another site where Pretty Polly was battling an invasion in PDF. But im confused, nobody has seen an invasion on test yet as some of you have said. Are Founders "special guests" to another secret test server? Don't mind me, its just my wacky ideas of conspiracy theories lol.

I haven read anything on the PDF invasions. If it has been tested and things got fixed. Then launch away. Big or minor, its better than nothing.

There actually have been a few invasions on the test server, as I was able to catch the tail end of one and land in the same invasion on the next server. It's possible that the lack of people catching them is that since they were having issues with such invasions on the open server that they had to retract them, that they are using the first few invasions as a test bed to solve any such major issues. The test server is in place for just that, as a test bed for new features, and testing such features takes weeks and weeks to do.

As for this being a "minor" update, this would not allow the update to be released within minutes of it's release to test. Even though Port Royal and Tortuga invasions have already been tested, each set of coding comes with it's own nicks and cuts that have to be fixed before the release can go live. The invasions the way they are ran no doubt require very extensive coding to call each wave of the invasion, summon barricades, and change the overall atmosphere of the game as well as set off the countdown timer, etc. On top of that we have all the other updates that were included in this update kit, which must also be tested.

Following the previous invasion releases to test, along with the fact that there seems to be issues with the current invasions, I would say this release will at least be held on the test server for 2 weeks, if not longer.

It has been sometime since there were invasions on test, let alone on PDF. Was involved in a few of these when they were first released, but then they went away. Was involved in an invasion on test last night on Tortuga. Seems to go pretty good, but harder. Were only about 6 pirates on the beach but a whole lot of baddies were coming at us, including the new Keg Haulers.

And i agree with Jack, will be a few weeks at least before we see the PDF invasions roll to live.

LOL, no offense to you guys and your technically valid ideas of how it should have actually been done, but if you check the release notes, they released it. I waited on the beaches for a while. Saw 'famous' ( based on my knowledge of their existence ) pirates; nothing happened. Then i logged off. I guess we have to wait for an official news release on the Grog blog about the update for the Invasions to start.

Yes, it says Jolly Roger is now invading PDF. The invasions will probably be near the usual times they run them on live 3:00 pm eastern and later

There was at least one PDF invasion on test, yesterday. I missed it. It's just a matter of timing-being on test at the right time. From what I have heard, Tuga was invaded, then PDF a little while afterwards. Caught a Tuga invasion last night on test, but was too tired to see if PDF was next. May have happened, maybe not..idk
But, I don't see Disney releasing PDF invasions to open until they are more fully tested. I could be incorrect in that assumption, though. Time will tell...

While I'm still not assured that they are on Open yet, as this would be an absolutely dangerous, absurd, and rash decision on Disney's part, you are right roger that the release notes for Padres invasions are posted on the site for open server. Whether or not these are supposed to have been put here is unknown, but they are there although I am seeing no ingame signs of such an update.

If someone can for sure confirm via a screenshot from the open server that they are indeed on the open server I will retract my statments, however I must point out my distaste in the decision made by Disney here if they have done so. To release something on the open server and test server of this magnitude in the same day is pointless. The test server was put in place for just that, to test, and by putting them on open they have made a grave mistake. In the event that there are major issues with this patch many of their users may experience inability to play, constant crashes, and other bugs, and they will have no-one to blame but themselves for such circumstances if such is the case.

Actually Jack, the PDF invasions for test were announced on Dec. 18th, 2009 and the first one I know of happened on the 19th the next day. This hasn't just been released there, it's been on test for awhile now although not seen very often. But I only go on test once a week.

True Grizz, But on test, the PDF invasions wre only there for a couple of days, had MAJOR problems, and got pulled. If they have been fixed, they were never retested.

I too only go on test once in awhile, but I haven't even heard any chatter about the PDF invasions since they got pulled on December 20 or 21.

I agree with Jack, If they have been put on open, I doubt they are going to run smoothly until after everyone puts in the 1000's of problem reports that should have been done on test.

I knew that they had announced the invasions in December and released them, but it was from my understanding that they were only on a few days before Disney retracted them without notes, yet again, due to major issues with them (and in the possibility that they did release them to open which would explain the keg runners and all the issues with invasions on open). I haven't seen any of the invasions for PDF until yesterday on Test, and as always if someone wants to provide physical ingame proof I'll gladly retract my statements.

Part of the confusion here is the fault of Disney, and for a quick little side-tangent they really need to be more organized. As you mentioned Grizzly, they announced them on December 18th. There were no release notes for it so no testers had a way of knowing if it was released or removed or anything. Now we have a mess of usernotes all over the place that make no sense what-so-ever.

I'm not going to comment any more in this thread not because I am angry, nor because I do not like other persons views on a matter as you are all stating just as legit points, but Disney has twisted this into such a confusing labyrinth of news and updates that I'm not even sure what their POTCO development department has done, is doing, or what in the world is going on now.

Hes absolutely right. Release notes as of today say PDF Invasions - correct or not - and, Im going through a SERIOUS update right now. Who knows... who knows.
But then, they havent even figured out the year... Disney is confoozled.
