Do I keep my skill points when...

I am not sure if I am going to stay being a member of Pirates right now. What I want to know is that is I decide to go back to being a free player, do I still get to keep my skill points on a certain skill? For example: will I stay at rank 3 on Left Broadsides in Sailing? Or will I go back to rank 2?

I believe, but am uncertain, that it will give you full use of whatever skills you have obtained, that are allowed under a basic account. I do not think it takes the effectiveness of these items away from you. (ie cancel out any assigned skill points)

I talked to a Disney rep using in-line chat back when I signed up. I asked about this very thing and he told me that when an Unlimited player goes back to Basic, he or she keeps everything earned while Unlimited but no longer has access to it.

For example, if you have a War Frigate, you can no longer sail it because Basics cannot have War Frigates. He also said that any skills earned as Unlimited that are not available to Basics will not be accessible either. So if you earned your Voodoo Staff, you can no longer use it.

But that was 6 months ago and, from what I have seen, internal communication is not exactly Job One at Disney Online...Sot take it with a grain of salt.

When you stop playing the game as unlimited access, everything is saved at where you left it, they don't go in and lower your skill points. You do however get limited on what skills and weapons you can use. They leave it like that so should you decide you would like unlimited access again, all the hard work you put in wasn't lost.
I was worried about that as well back in August/September. I had quit playing for a little while, only stuck around to basic access, when I came back everything was saved, and none of the skill points and so on were removed or changed.

The question I have always wondered about, and especially now with skill buy back in points, is if you get more skill points than a basic would have.

For example level 7 in a skill for basic. As 40 level characters buy back they can put 5 points in all these lower skills each. Swipe, hack slash, a total of 15 points. Do these stay, or which I doubt, they have limited use of 7 points total in some way?

One bit of advice. Make sure you have room for one of the basic ships. If you go to limited access with all 3 war ships, you won't be able to sail ANY of them!
