Majority in this game
I believe that this game is more for 18 yr olds and up...basically adults. Sure this game was meant to be for kids but the majority of the people who play are 18+.
In my opinion and many others that I have asked...This is NOT a kids game. Last edited by Cannonfury; 12-15-2008 at 10:05 PM.. |

I would tend to agree just from personal experience by my kids.
They want to meet up with friends from school and go pirating. Even with each others names, they 99% of the time could not find each other, and sequence times. I found this ridiculous, kids trying to grasp the idea of what server, what time, what name, what spot in what town. With help and phone calls eventually some got on friends list. The littlest one taking like 5 minutes typing a sentence out, and it won't go through because a word like wheel or road blocks it? Both gave up in no time with out being able to play with friends or communicate. This being made so completely difficult for kids to play, I agree its not a kids game. Teens probably a different scenario than this? |

Kids or Adults?
Well, the majority of kids who play this game has been dropping since what Disney has done. It was my kids who roped me to this game. I have to admit, it used to be pretty fun. With out all the updates and late events

The only part of the game I found that was geared towards kids was Disney's moderation.
I was told flat out by a customer service manager (in moderation department), that everyone will be treated as 13yrs old or younger, irregardless of real age, with NO exceptions. Other than that, the game is hard for them to communicate, and has adult themes interlaced throughout, drinking, gambling, thrashing enemies, sexy pirates standing on streetcorners. The few pre-teen friends that I have in the game (coworkers/friends children) are nearly impossible to help as much as i'd like to, because 'generally' that age groups typing skills are limited (im sure there are exceptions kids.. please do not respond.. hey I can type.) As Poison Elf mentioned, generally it takes someone without typing skills a minute or so to type a small sentence and then they get wiped by the chat censor for some rather silly words, frustrating them. I have a 12 year old friend, that wont play anymore because he cannot communicate in the game, he's excellent at games, but cant type. |

Mid teens and up!
The entire Pirates genre is an adult thing. Younger ones like it, and the special effects, but it was adults who went to see the movies time after time, and bought the DVD's as soon as they were released. And ZEP, what's wrong with sexy pirates standing on street corners? Why do you think there are so many pirates that owe Scarlett money? ( The clothing quest.) And, let's face it, Scarlett isn't on a street corner.

Uh.. ok, now Im curious what it is that DizzySkyJump is referring to as blood.
My system has all graphics up on full blast high, and i've never seen a drop of blood in this game. Over 9 months of screenshots of observing screenshots and I have yet to see a drop. I've been told that a videocard with settings cranked up w/Auto Aliasing turned on may cause some actual ghosting that is often red in color, that may appear this way. There is no blood in Pirates Online, not a single drop. |

None of the above. this game's got plenty O' kids, but then again, plenty O' adults. anyone who would class this game as one of the other, I could shoot them with a bullet, and spit on their grave. ok, maybe not, but still, I dont think that be very sporting.

The game is rated 10+ the biggest thing isnt age its maturity there are alot fo immature people int he game wheather they are 6 or 60 they are annoying. Im Mid-teen and find this game to be pretty easy i mean compared to other games like it this game is actually very easy.

All I can say is that there is young & young-at-heart which I hope we all always feel. Mental maturity has alot to do with playing this game...I have seen peeps on POTCO that actually surprise me when their real age is revealed...they are so much younger than I could ever imagine. And the opposite is also true. Some pirates reveal their age by their actions and chat. Some are very demanding as though we are their adopted parents to be at their beck and call. The communication issue is a big one alot of the time. But in the long run, does our opinions really matter? Disney makes the rules...not the people that actually pay for the game...
