Advice Needed
My Pirates game icon has vanished, the skull one, and I can't find it.
The game still shows up on my recent items list but when I click on it it doesn't respond. Could it have somehow managed to uninstalled itself? |

I don't know how it could have just uninstalled itself, but to check, go to (assuming you use windows xp here) Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and see if POTCO is in the list.
If it isn't then it was uninstalled and you should try to reinstall. -Elo Edit: This appears to be a duplicate issue to the "Game Vanished" thread. I see in there that you are using a Mac, so my advice won't work for you. Last edited by Eloricth; 03-05-2008 at 02:44 PM.. |

Thank you anyway for your advice. Sorry I probably shouldn't have posted it twice.

![]() Here is what you can try: 1. Go to the website piratesonline.com and launch the game from there 2. Go into your computer/program files/ disney/ pirates online and check if the game still shows, if it does you did not delete it. 3. Delete the old game on add/remove programs and download it new from the website, with this download you will get your icon back |

I don't know much about Mac's, but have you tried launching the game from the program file? Can you go to the file and create a short cut? Usually I just lauch the game from the start menu anyway (PC).

I'm going to download it again because It doesn't seem to be anywhere on my computer which is v. strange!! I didn't think things could just vanish!
Can someone reassure me that I won't lose my character? I don't think I would but if I did, I would be sooo annoyed! Thank you for your advice!

You will not lose your character. All of your character information is stored server-side. You log in to the game, and it retrieves your characters from the server, not your computer.

Thanks Elo! I thought it would be on a server or something.

Technically, your characters are stored in a database...which the server connects to...which the client connects to. But that's probably way more than what you want to know. heh
And it's not a problem, just glad to help. ![]() -Elo |
