Server lag, or clientside?
I'll cut to the chase here. Basically, I've been playing on and off for years now, and I decided to come back. My PC has always been overkill for a game like this, and is even more so now. My internet connection is wired and fast/stable.
Anyway, the lag I experience seems very out of the ordinary. I can deal with the lag on land, but when I take to the open seas, I expect to see smooth sailing. That is exactly what I am not seeing at the moment. Enemy NPC ships appear to be stuttering about as if the server is not synched with the movements of the AI. They pretty much just pause for 1-2 seconds, then instantly appear in the spot they would have normally been headed to, but it is not a smooth transition, which makes gunning and even sailing a lot less enjoyable. I have tried changing my API between the 3 different settings, trying several resolutions and even the lowest settings possible. To no avail. Does anyone know if they are working on this lag issue, or should I not bother wasting my money on another subscription this year? Sorry if this post seems a bit 'angry', I am not meaning to sound like it, but I am very disappointed that after 4 years the lag and bugs have only gotten worse. |

Welcome Back
![]() Its the server that is in need of maintenance. Special Events scheduled for that day to appear tend to make the ships slow down even more. And the stuff you describe is typical of a server in need of serious maintenance. No telling how soon POTCO will fix it. Best to report to them in their feedback at the official web site or give them a call. Live Chat has been removed. |

Eh, sadly I did report the issue the other day and just not received an email from them telling me to update my drivers. Even though I told them in my report to them that everything (audio and video) including windows updates, are up to date.
Basically just a generic response. I subbed back to the game anyway for old times sake, but man the lag during the peak hours is simply frustrating. What truly annoys me is that they told me to play on quiet servers to have a good gameplay experience.. what they fail to realize is that I want to play WITH PEOPLE and have fun adventures with potential, new friends. Can't quite meet new people if I have to play on empty servers ;( Ug, sorry for the vent again, its just so disappointing for such a fun game. So much potential for success, but so little effort on their part. |

I understand, but you are here where new friends can be met to play in-game. Friends you can stay in contact outside the game and be able to chat more freely with too! rofl
They'll also introduced to you their set of friends who in turn will introduced their set of friends and so on. You'll still get that six degree experience and play on which ever server works best for you. Like I said, some servers are worse than others. Go to the ones that are working fine. Try not to participate in those island invasions. They usually affect game performance afterwards. You'll need to relaunch, or even reboot if you do anyway. Keep trying mate. Just need to find what works best. Surprises me when I last. lol |
