Warning about your account
Dear fellow pirates,
I have heard recently of people stealing pirate accounts. They may say they will find you a legendary or that they will help you in some way. DO NOT EVER give anyone your account name and password. We have had 2 guild members who have had their accounts hijacked in the last week alone. One was lucky - he got his pirate back - but with NO clothes, gold, or weapons - his inventory was completely cleaned out. The second is still working on getting his pirate back. We are suggesting to him to call Disney as soon as possible. Please mates - guard your account name and password - do not give it to ANYONE. Be safe, not sorry. Fair Winds, Kat |

Unfortunately in this type of situation Disney won't do a thing because it is the player's fault. Tsk tsk.

Basics be careful too. I had some guy offer to buy me unlimited access for a year because he said I was nice, but he only needed my account name and password to do it. Just use your brain when it comes to total strangers asking for your information.

Yeah... that isn't good when you end up with some unknown player ruining your account... :/ If they didn't even want to ruin your account, they could even manage to learn your identity (manage account has name, email, and sometimes other things such as credit card numbers).

The 2nd person needs to go to live chat or call as soon as possible. I believe that after 2 weeks of being deleted a persons pirates are gone for good.

If you realise your account has been stolen, change your password immediately. Same goes if you get a message in-game saying that someone else has logged into your account and you're being disconnected, even if you've never given your details away. I had this message and changed my password, despite never speaking to anyone about my account details.
For a secure password, use capital letters and numbers. If someone gets hold of your account name, it doesn't take long for them to use particular software to find out your password if it's a word found in the dictionary with no capital letters or numbers. A made up word with capital letters and numbers in it is the safest option. Quote:
Thank you for the warning, Kat, because I didn't realise that scamming happened so often. We should all keep a lookout, and know when we're being scammed. |

Yeah for anyone who reads this post, I will stick to simplicity and say, it is a SCAM.
Scam - A confidence game or other fraudulent scheme, especially for making a quick profit; swindle. P.S. scammers are losers. |

wow
Horrible. Defiantly, like most people are saying, DO NOT GIVE AWAY ANY ACCOUNT OR PERSONAL INFORMATION. When Disney says, "Don't even share it with your best friend", they MEAN it.
It is HORRIBLE that people are getting scammed. Kat, thank you for posting this. Now that i know this has been happening, I will be on the lookout and report anyone i see asking for personal info. Also, this is serious. it is not "just a pirate". This means they could get your email, address, and a bunch of other stuff. Kat, once again, thank you for posting this. -Hector, ER -Otter, PNC -Trust, SS |

A few of my friends have gotten their accounts hacked, it is very sad. I know who it was, and that person should be banned. I've been offered several times by this person (through other peoples' accounts), to "share info" with them. Protect you account information because if you get hacked, there's no one to blame but yourself.

I don't know who would be silly enough to give their account info to a stranger, or even a friend. Can't trust anyone over the internet. Just keep the account to yourself.. and don't do anything that sounds "too good to be true".

I will be on extreme protection mode when I am in Pirates Online. If someone in-game asks me for this for something like get a legendary weapon for you, I would report him for wanting personal account information that is in Disney's Do not List (Sharing Personal Information). I will change my simple password to a more complex one just in case.
