Disney announces 4th Pirates Movie!

Walt Disney Pictures has announced that a 4th Pirates of the Carribean movie is in production and will be in theaters in Summer of 2011! The Movie will be titled "On Stranger Tides" and Johnny Depp will be in the movie.

Just googled 'POTC 4 On Stranger Tides' and got back with TONS of hits. This looks promising! Hope its not some trick or I'll be one upset pirate.. Can't wait!!! I've been hoping they'd come out with the 4th, and now its even sooner than anticipated! Even better!!!!!!

I thought it was going to be "The Fountain of Youth" ? hmm who cares, i guess that will inspire some story quest. not that i want to wait that long.

From what I have read, National Treasure was also looking into doing the Fountain of Youth, so I guess National Treasure won. I think it's silly if they did, because at the end of the last pirates Jack had the map and it looked as if it were for the fountain of youth. Where as National Treasure just had the Prez asking Nicholas Cage's character to look into something that was in the Book of Secrets.

Well it looks like it will be about the fountain of youth even though it's not in the title. It says on Wiki that it will be, granted that's Wiki so I'm not taking it as actual fact, maybe it only says so because of the rumors. I guess we'll have to wait and see!

You can go to Amazon.com and read a user review of the 1987 book On Stranger Tides by Tim Powers. The story, boiled down, is about an English puppeteer-turned-accountant who is press-ganged into piracy. He encounters actual historical figures and places including the governor of the Carolina territories, Juan Ponce de Leon, Blackbeard the pirate, and yes, the Fountain of Youth.

No word yet on if the POTC4 script will follow the book at all, or is just borrowing the title or what.

I saw this in six different places, so I have no idea who made this statement. But... if this is true, I can't wait. Not only does it mean more movie entertainment, but it means more ingame content that will probably come.

Well who knows where this is going it could still be the fountain of youth since Miami is one corner of the Bermuda triangle that could be stranger tides :P anyway I cant wait for this movie to come out I wonder if POTCO will do anything special for its release!

eliza the 4th movie is about the Fountain of Youth. its supposedly based on a book with the same name that says something about a Jack Shandy seeking revenge for his uncle and enters the caribbean while some blackbeard guy brings a group of undead and living to find the fabled fountain of youth.

Not too sure about the legitimacy of this source but an alleged insider has stated the following:

"The ending of Pirates 3, the fountain of youth story might not be the only story they might used the next pirates film. The fountain story could used in another form to introduce the story for Pirates 4… the next film might be a departure from the same formula of the last three movies as well, meaning that Jerry Bruckheimer could be planning to enter the realm of Science Fiction this time around and it could be the heart of a new trilogy with Jack Sparrow and his crew of misfits. Some of the brainstorming going around involves some Jules Verne type of scenarios involving some pretty big flying machines, a man who wants to rule more than just the ocean, a encounter with the most famous and dangerous pirate of all, a race to get to a lost world and Jack and his crew going to where no pirate has gone before (No, its not space but Disney had made animated movie about this place before with Michel J Fox voicing one of the characters)."

The place stated is Atlantis, given that's the only Disney movie involving someplace at sea that had a character voiced by Michael J. Fox (as Milo).

Other info I've found strewn about the web is that Elizabeth and Will won't be in the movie (which I find hard to believe given the after-the-credits easter egg in POTC3) and it'll be just about Jack and the crew. Johnny Depp is confirmed to return as Jack and Geoffrey Rush is rumored to be back as Barbossa.

I'm curious about the whole famous pirate thing.. at first I thought it would be Blackbeard but wasn't Captain Teague unofficially supposed to be him?
