More Islands Update on Test due to Maintenance?
We are sorry! Pirates of the Caribbean Online is temporarily closed for maintenance from 2PM PDT and will reopen at 5PM PDT. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience!
Do you guys think this is the "more islands" that the NPC's said in the game now are appearing? ![]() ![]()

Yes I hope, this game has gone way too long only consisting of the main islands, no challenging islands.

I really wouldn't care if new islands were to come. It may very well be them, lets just hope that they aren't meaningless (like the time SvS islands were released - prior to the SvS part).

I'm hoping not... not yet at least. I'd rather pirates stretch out these releases instead of shove them all out once, only to run out of things to release again. At least if they take time in between, they have time to work on new content. But if they release new things faster than they can create new updates... well that would just leave us with another year of boredom while they try and catch up.

The islands have NO caves, jungle areas, or swamps.
If they enter the game, it's for show only.(unless, of course, with this update comes tones of new caves, junles, and swamps that they've been working on) It's completely impossible to know. If they do, great, because that's an additional 8, yes EIGHT, islands that are added to the game. If not... oh well, we'll see new things later. But all the new things coming out are going to make summer fun. |

Just a simple question here but: Does it take them 2 to 3 hours to put an update there or does it only take that long for bug fixes to come for example how long was test "shut down for maintenance" this past tuesday? I am just wondering here mates, and Mac we do not even know what disney has for these new islands whats in the phase files is there like a library kind of in my head so like somethings like: The Kraken are not in their. So I am guessing these will be "NOT" be for show and they will be like nothing we have ever seen before mates.

Bug fixes are probably easier to do and take less time because they just change a few code directions that were probably making things happen that shouldn't have happened.
From looking at panda tutorials, they have sets of codes, and if they have useless codes, those may or may not cause bugs. Or if you type codes in wrong they cause bugs. Bugs are probably easier to transfer over, but with updates they need to add things to the phase files, literally. You can't go in the phase files and say, "Ooo, I see a model of a bug fix!" No, it doesn't work that way. They're physically(sort of) adding in content so it takes longer. The bigger the update, the longer it may take. And since they didn't say maintence, this is either a really big update or some really big bug fixes. I'd guess an update, but it could be islands, or they fixed fishing and they're adding that and land cannons. If I were a developer, it'd be islands. Why? Because you don't want to throw four minigames at once and three months later have people say, "I'm bored!" again. Now islands would keep us busy for some time, and then when we're bored the developers can say, "Yep, it's minigame time again" and just add them in. That's what I think, logically, they're doing, but am I right? No idea. P.S. Test is back up. There are no "known" new islands. There are no areas on the map which indicate there are islands. But they are mysterious islands, so I have no idea. |

Ugh James... I don't know why you're so obsessed with these new islands coming. For all you know the next update could just be the other mini-games. We expected Raven Cove with the weapons' update but we were wrong. Just let it come when it has to... I'm telling you the next update can be on 30th of this month, so don't believe in such things so much that you let your hopes down! Thats all... You also may be right also, but let it come when it has to... You're extremely excited about this lol

Um PiratesGirl09 (yes I remember your old ID).... I just changed the entire message lol. After I saw that the timings given were 2AM - 5PM PST, this means that test maintenance is still not over right? So that means it can be happening anytime now (the test maintenance), and if it is really 2am to 5pm then that means its a big update.... or maybe James displayed the timings wrongly, and therefore my first message was right
. Well the usual dates for test updates are 20th, 30th or a Sunday around both times...

Oh yea I'm wrong (2nd comment is wrong)... The Maintenance was from 2AM to 5AM i think. This means it is over and there are no new islands. James o Martin himself admitted his disappointment in that on the test thread (well its your fault my friend, who asked you to think it would come so fast lol)....
Ah yes Juliana. Did you know that you're on my friends list? |
