As long as it works in google chrome, i'm happy. Using this in a tabbed browser should make it easier when i'm doing homework.

Pixie Hollow is like this. I dont think this is gonna be a good thing for Pirates. And who wants to redownload this game anyway?
I just hope testers do test this before Disney has planned on inplementing it. |

Reminds me of the toontown test website. Really hope they do more than just release notes with the test websites. Like test only info.

EDIT: I would like to clarify on my statement above. When I referred to them trying to turn the game into a "browser based game", I was referring to a game that ran just like a client based game but used flash programs and intricate PHP coding to run a full game, such as Pirates, via a browser. One good example of a game like this that comes to my mind is FusionFall, another 3D, full MMORPG ran by Cartoon Network. When this game first opened in Beta testing stages, it was a downloaded, client-based game as Pirates currently is. Early in testing though they teamed up with a company that works on intricate flash system coding and moved the entire game onto their website, where it is now ran through your browser. In no way was I referring to a 100% flash based game such as Club Penguin or Pixie Hollow, and I'm sorry for any confusion I may have brought on.

im confused will you be "forced" to download the game again? or is it a new "option" like 3D?
another "fail" if you ask me why do they want to make it a game like "Club Penguin" where you have to go to their website to play?? Last edited by Sven Niscadae; 12-18-2009 at 07:54 PM.. Reason: Merged |

I suppose this is a good solution for people without too much space on their drives or are using a computer that they don't want to install a program on. Though I'd think the prices of hard drives is decent enough that the former shouldn't be a problem, and the latter... well, there's probably a reason you're not (or can't or aren't supposed to be) installing software on the computer. I'm still waiting to see the real reasoning behind this as I can't imagine performance being better when the game is running through another process such as the web browser. If the whole thing takes a significant load off my CPU, that'd be something else I guess though I can't imagine the graphic quality would be better than an installed client. Kind of theorizing at the moment but I'll try it out more later when I'm home.

I have to agree with you as well, Sven, except I can't imagine it saving any hard drive space. If anything, it will use more hard drive space as you now have to download and install the Panda3D plug-in. I just hope we aren't going to be forced to play inside a browser. When I play games (especially online), I usually shut everything else off so that nothing else is contributing to the lag, either by network or by CPU. If we have to have a web browser open while playing, that will just be stupid. Hopefully they make it an option to play in the browser or not. I don't have a good feeling about this, though.
