Should I have gotten Take Cover?
Well I mastered sailing and I have always thought that battle orders were useless, so I've never learned Take Cover, and later on I thought that it might have been useful, am I right?

I have one skill point on take cover... and it does come in handy when that blue **** is coming at ya from a Revenant or something evil like that

ive never found it does anything,
but then again i only invested one point on it..but since it did pretty much nothing at one point..you can see my hesitance for wanting to put more on it. who knows..maybe it works great with more filled, or it just dont work for me, as it seems it doesnt block any other shot except plain cannonballs..and whatever shoots plain cannonballs isnt exactly a threat anyways. just my opinion, and not meant to be fact of any sort and maybe im using it wrong.

My opinion is that if I'm catching a full broadside I've done something wrong and deserve to be sunk.

If you go into the Boss battle, use a take cover when the bridges start shooting at you and the Goliath. You'll see a difference. Also last night we had a sloop race. Both of us came up on a phantom and lets just say they didnt use it and I did....they sunk.

How many points do you have in it?

1 on one pirate and 2 on the bigger one. When I got hit by the thunder shower from the Reaper, I had 1 point on my mid pirate. I took very minimal damage as where my friend had sank right before me.

I have always found it useful, when that unanticipated broadside comes up, or that ship you werent attacking suddenly sneaks up on you.
The number of skill points changes its duration, not its strength as best I can tell. I think its usefullness is a matter of timing, especially if you only have 1 point on it, as its duration is somewhat short. It does not appear to make your ship invincible for that short period of time, but damage taken is reduced for that time period. Zeppers lvl36 http://pirates.teamofx.us |

The biggest difference you will see is from the Skeleton ships that hit you with Thunder/Lighting. Otherwise you really can't tell. But the difference with that Thunder/Lighting is a very great difference...I would say it seems to at least cut the damage in half.
Problem is though you need to put a few points in it to dodge the lighting attacks. Usually if you get hit by 1 bolt, you'll get hit by at least 1 or 2 more within 5-8 seconds. |

It's very helpfull. But it only works against brosides not the deck cannons. When i first got it i wanted to test it out so i went right by a storm reaper. They shot deck cannons at me and i was down to 3/4 of my health(that was only 4 lightings) when i used take cover, i was wondering what happend. Then i came right to the port side of it and it shot 20 lightings at me i sould of been dead but i wasn't, i was 1/2 health(in a war sloop) its awsome!

Gee - no I'm second guessing myself...
My first pirate has take cover - and I found it didn't do squat. I'd use it - still take too much damage and thought 'I should of went with Ramming Speed'.... So now on the second pirate with the Boss Battle - and with the 'updates' making it crazy I'm beginning to wonder if I should of taken that this time around. I still have a few points to go on the second chap - so I could take it if I want it... but... the first time I used it I just found that sailing skill was a way better option. If it wasn't for the Boss Battle hassles we've been having I don't think I would still consider it... maybe I'll save the last point - just in case

I'm having the same thoughts, I still have a few levels before mastering and I have severl points waiting to be spent but I feel unsure on what I should spend them on.

I have noticed it comes in handy with the Boss, especially with the new harder updates.
