What's going on here with SvS?

Hi all

Some may know by now that I've been trying my hand at a bit of SvS in the privateer sector. However one thing that's been bugging me about it alludes me. While in SvS many ships will fire what looks like a white cannon ball that almost unerringly hits. I've watched many times as one of these, what I assume to be Spectral cannonballs clearly misses my ship by several feet, and yet I take full damage. Not only do I take damage from these shots, but the damage seems to be increadable. The typical will be Moderate damage to my armor on the first shot, severe damage to my armor and moderate damage to my ship on the second, severe damage to my ship on the third and forth shots and final fifth shot is the killing blow. As I sayed before, these shots almost never miss either. I've witnessed these cannon balls hitting me even as they fly by! The only two possible explinations to this is (1) There is a grace zone around every ship that permits shots to hit even when they miss, and (2) the person(s) are cheating somehow. I'm not crying over getting beaten. But when you can fire five times without missing and take out a war frigate something is off. I'm going to attempt to take some screenshots of these tonight so you can see what I'm talking about. In the meantime, answers would be greatly appreciated if possible

I am not a SvS'ing pirate myself, however I have heard many have had lag issues with fury.

I have played two pirates on two computers before, and things are not always in sync. Its possible that perhaps it appears as a miss to you but a hit to those firing it, so it does damage, or something like that.

Just one more option to add to the mix.

I have also heard there is alot of pirates using glitchs to cheat in SvS. Its possible this is one of them. I know I read alot of SvS'ers wanting Lightning and Fury removed from SvS.

There are WAAAAY too many people glitching in SvS... which is why I stopped playing it.

Yup, like Zep said, it is mostly just lag. If you notice when you fire lightening at another ship it does not actually thunder down until maybe 3 seconds after it should...... all about the other players speed to yours........... i think LOL

There are way too many cheaters in SVS even though i dont no the cheat in SVS's exp esquao ocean or what ever where every ship is unlimited damage i will not play SvS's it's very annoying to me and to me do's not serve a real purpose just to make others mad i think.

I agree most likely a lag in the game with SvS even when your just doing normal sailing and use thunder attack it kinda do's the same thing.So dont really worry about but if you whant i would say report it to disney or some thing there's still a lot of stuff they need to fix n the game......

And i all so agree with you about (all about the other players speed to yours)it depends on your connection speed really like me i have every thing maxed out on my computer its a desktop so i basicly overclocked every thing runs perfect but i still see lag in game so it's not your computer it's your Isp and Disney game put together.And some times others move faster then me lol and i still have the best internet money can buy lol.

I was on last night, there was a Spanish light sloop. Which was using a speed glitch! Really fast and so was the cannons!! Admittedly it was quite funny seeing a fully crewed War Sloop with fury being sunk in 2 secs! The lightning bolts were like a machine gun! It also had caused quite a storm on the privateer chat, with messages such as the likes of
"Stop glitching/cheating!"
" Cheats never win!!" and a few pirates who kept saying,
"lets report the cheat." - Personally I have never came across the speed glitch nor how to obtain any of the other so called glitches. Nor do I want to either.
Its annoying, when someone finds the Invincible or the Invisible glitch and makes 15K points and Gold, by just cheating. Is it too difficult to play straight up?
Whilst It was quite funny seeing those who had made comments to our glitching Pirate, who then simply went to the other side (French) and then sink them in 2 secs! I was actually rooting for the guy, as he/she was on our side sinking French and getting away with it. Guess its a morale thing, but we are practising Pirates on this game??

SvS is one of the primary reason I hate a lot Guild smack talk. How good is your SvS guild when you have to cheat to win? I won't name them - most of us know them.

Same goes for PvP'ers who cheat or sucker newer players into matches they have no prayer of winning and then talk smack. You need to get over yourselves...

One trend is to make a Cutlass pirate. They will have mastered cutlass but only reached Notorierty level 13 or something and then harass level 20's etc. trying to suck them into a fight. Check an opponent's stats FIRST.

Jake Walt is one of the main "Crimson Pirateers" we have. I experienced this problem in the past and I had asked him:

"Jake, how come whenever fury gets shot at me it completely misses but I still lose health?"

He told me that it's not glitching or anything by an other players, but it's simply a "lag" bug where on their screen, it hits you, and on yours it clearly passes off.

I agree completely with crim. This happens to me all the time but i have witnessed this in pvp to. When i am a mile away from them they have there back turned from me and hit me. So i asked him one time and he told me on his screen he was right next to me. So its nothing but a lag.

Interesting comment about Lag, I agree it maybe due to this but as I like SvS and on it quite regaularly. It tends to be inconsistent, as I've had fury hit my ship smack on and damage goes down, but for others who don't hit smack on, damage still goes down. I don't think it is always lag.

The guild I belong to is Black Shark Inc, we are strictly an SVS guild. There are combinations of many things that disrupt the privateering part of the game. Yes lag is a big problem. Think of an express, way if everyone in the world were driving on the same E-way think of how fast traffic would go. Also if you go too close to the rocks you lose your compass, it stops working (not sure what that is from). Also someone had said they ran two pc's at the same time and they were the same. That's because your on the same feed of internet. its going to be about the same. You can also lag from someone else having bad internet too. Also it doesn't matter how great of a computer you have and can have internet from NASA (lol) if Pirates has tons of people playing on the like the first two servers your gonna lag. We have where someone can sail great with one Capt and cant with another Capt. On other accounts it may appear someone is using a glitch and they aren't, its only lag and game issues. I think SVS should be held on their own servers but what do I know... lol. If someone is using a specific glitch it may cause lag as well. If you suspect someone is glitching I recommend you go to another server to have fun. I can only imagine the reason some people are cheating is because they lack the natural skills and or talent. SVS can be fun even if you don't have either. Its all about being with friends and having fun.

SVS is fun Jeava, you just have to be optimistic. Your more than welcome on a Black Shark ship to give it a better whirl. I promise you'll have fun.


If privateering is not in your blood then your not going to enjoy it. Despite the digs we may get or people's accusations of us cheating we still SVS. The funny thing about being called a cheater though, Ive often wondered why is it we sink just as much as everyone else. Now there is some food for thought. Ive been doing this for ten months and I would never leave it. For every bad thing SVS may have, there is five more reasons why I love and would never leave it. Just might be because I have awsome friends that just so happen to be my entire guild that make it so fun.

SVS/Privateering is like the Opera either you love it or you dont.

other than the glitching and cheating part of SvS which is no longer common anymore (as far as i know), the main cause of this occurance which has happened to me so many times is due to the well hated lag, yep. its happened to me too loads of times. a thunderbolt goes one way and yet destroys my sails. Theres also something called timestop which happened to me.The entire battle will totally stop for a minute or half and i get to blast the ship till the lag goes (it usually ends up with my connection breaking down)

^^Cheating and Glitching no longer common?? Are you serious? I thought there was a cheat to win policy now on that part of the game, happens very often.

Fury is the cannonball mate... Huge Damage great for pvp... Thats all I have to say
