I think dagger is the better of the two. I think the changes being made to it demonstrates that. 25% decrease to its front damage, to give a small return in a rear attack now and then, demonstartes that it was quite better. Someone somewhere felt that to powerful? At a setting we could choose, doing a single hit, double hit, triple hit was nice.
Increses to its throw dirt, asp, and viper nest are a good additions, if they ever become practical. Asp, and throw dirt, is only effective in pvp to another player, as well for viper nest breaking staff charge. Creatures don't use staff, an doll users immediately attune back to you if you break their attunement.
Cutlass has to many combos to take all the combos. 5 combos x 5 points is all your 25 points. I am viewing the future cutlass as basically a passive weapon for points, and blade storm. Thats how my latest character is set up, with 2502 health. That also helps working grenades with two Urchinfist.
As for the main topic of this post, I think it is a bit to open to answer really. Which is better for what, at what levels, pvp, building, end result etc.?
None of these things require healing and another character to always be there to work. I built a character rescently, that basically was solo the entire time. Where many others worked in crews and healing each other etc. I finished way ahead of them by just knowing the right ways to go about gaining rep etc. For instance so many smoke bombs, then stink bombs on three critters can be 300 rep. A crew member hitting those as you do this may bring it down to 100 rep total. On the other hand, you work with just a healer, that could also result to around 360 rep total.
