Its too bad that those methods wont do. See, the rep your complaining about being distributed is not divided, but awarded based on the attacks used (ie hex shot). Pistol does some damage stripping the voodoo, and does get rewarded some points for the shots, this does lower the enemies health, and therefore lowers the number of attacks used by another weapon before the enemie is defeated. For the most part if your attacking Molusks, the points difference is minor (like 10-12).

The only other way I know of is to do some form of glitch where you can grenade enemies somewhat safely and not have to attempt to render them harmless for your attacks. Not even going there.

So, the method you dont want to use is pretty much the most effective. The "trick" as far as that may be concerned would be to concentrate on Smoke and Firebombs as they yield the best rep rewards. Perhaps mix a few of these into the others. Using stinkpot usually helps also because it generally does less damage allowing more attacks.

Unfortunatley there are MANY places in the game that require direct hits for the grenades to work... they often go right through the ground.
