Suggestion: Fix this glitch. Send pirates to jail if they don't board.
Disney, please fix the "sailing glitch" - it has gotten entirely too popular. Why? Several reasons:
A) It destroys the game for people who want to practice cannons or sailing. ("Why are they running away? I know I just hit it...")
B) It teaches people learning to "sail" very bad sailing habits - habits that kill pirates in Ship vs. Ship (SvS) - again, making that more miserable than it is on its own.
C) It prevent "captains" from learning the radial movement limitations of all the different cannons on all the different ships. By the time someone has "mastered" sailing, they really should know these, inside and out.
D) It teaches "captains" to incorrectly ignore the penalties of making cannoneers switch cannons. These penalties have steadily increased recently.
E) It prevents "captains" from learning how to navigate through tricky patches of traffic. Since they don't avoid collisions of any sort (friend or foe) they often interfere with other players (sailing and SvS.)
F) Reduces the pool of ships available for people doing real quests (corvette flagship, anyone? Oh, sorry, someone used it to glitch off, again. Spanish Cerberus? Sorry...sail out on a different server, bud.)
G) Reduces the opportunity for new players to experience one of the best sequences in the whole POTCO - boarding and defeating an enemy ship! (OK, outright ELIMINATES the possibility for new players to see it, until they get to level 10 or so.) (Hey! Bring back the super-easy bulwark flagship!)
Now, the ignorant people that leveled up sailing and cannons using this "glitch" don't even know what they are doing wrong, much of the time. It is hard to say they are guilty of criminal stupidity, when they never had the opportunity to learn, in the first place. The steady increase in popularity of this glitch, ensures lots of misery for lots of people, for lots of other secondary reasons as well.
How can it be fixed? Simple. If someone doesn't board a flagship before the timer runs out (or doesn't even grapple in that same amount of time) they go to jail. Reducing that timeout should help prevent people from doing the glitch for three minutes then boarding.
