they are a specific type of skeleton/undead

there seems to be at least one on most islands where you can find the undead.

the one on port royal is found if you go to the jungle entrance behind the mansion. there is a graveyard with a crypt and you can normally find it next that.

teh one on tortuga is found by going into teh jungle near the wagon outside of town. go through teh first clearing into the next cave (stay to teh left) you will then come to another clearing where you find a group of houses ( the copse is in the swamp area to the right of the houses - near a gator - somethime this copse appears as a carrion). there is also a stump in here.
