Good grammar, proper punctuation, spelling, and sentence structure are NOT bad habits.
Good grammar, proper punctuation, spelling, and sentence structure are all important facets of communication. These are DEFINATELY skills that will follow you your entire life. It is best to learn and exercise appropriate use early on, as it helps to form better habits. I recommend those just learning to take advantage, and get accustomed to it now. Depending on a courses subject matter (but not always) teachers often use grammar, etc to determine what grade a student should be rewarded. Bad habits will have you receiving deductions for silly mistakes, that otherwise good habits would help you to automatically avoid.
Homework can be a drag, I know, been a long time, but I've been there done that.
I was pretty good however at doing most of it in class, and other than a few term papers was able to avoid alot of homework. (at least until college....)
