Thanks am1974 for the opportunity to try POTBS. I enjoyed it the brief time I was able.

The graphics were beautiful, the game was huge. I sailed from Jenny Bay, Guyana (i think it was) to Biloxi, Louisiana my first couple of times in the game! There appeared to be all sorts of quests one could do, and probably redo, loads of content.

However there were downsides I found. Player interaction is nearly zero if your not in a clique in the game somewhere. The only time I had any interaction with anyone in the game (other than chatting with am1974 a few times) was being forced into SvS (pvp) mode while just trying to get from one place to another. Ok this could be avoided, by sailing round the pvp arena (which moves throughout the map regularly). Ok, get sunk once.. ready to start my trip again, and boom another guy does it the second I leave port. (basically not letting anyone leave the port) This was my only experience with players in the game.

I found the interface clunky and unappealing, as was anything to do with battle, sword fighting, sea battles, etc. I felt like a key jockey, not a swashbuckling pirate. There was no fluidity to the battles, seemed very halting. A key masher would go absolutely nuts trying to play this game. Click a key, wait 3 seconds, click a key wait 3 seconds... ug Im not a keymasher, but this was boring and there was no skill involved such as click speed/combination.

Communications requires a huge ugly box that covers 2/3rds of your screen (dont plan on any chat and play at same time), it can be resized, but then sentences are hard to read 2 words at a time. Also prepare yourself for advertisments in chat. advertising selling levelup services... why level up your character when you can pay someone else to do it?

My overall impression, it has a startlingly beautiful world to explore, seemingly endless. It was fun to explore, but the game action was very clunky and leaves alot to be desired. The players environment unfriendly. It's an interesting game to be sure, however I would say at 14.99 a/month, get the Sony multipass or whatever so you can play thier other games as well, this one alone isnt worth it. (IMO)

Thanks again for the chance am1974! (darn glad I didnt buy it to find out)
