Maybe there are in a crew and talking using the crew chat window? And the crew chat is gibberish to all those who are not part of the crew?
Because whispers don't show up on screen. And I can talk to anyone despite them being on my friends list or not. So the crew or guild chat is my only guess right now.

Make that the third person
. I can speak to no one, even those on my friends list, or crew, etc. See this gibberish all the time. I can not even communicate with friends that iI have exchanged DXD "True" friends codes with for that other game.
