But as far as me firing on other ships that players are targeting, like I said, I view it as helping them. Just like when someone's attacking someone on land I'll run up with my voodoo doll and do what I can to help them. Cause I like it when people do that for me, so why shouldn't I do it for others?

I agree Jami that sometimes it is someone trying to help out and I don't mind that, but when they are shadowing you, in their light sloop to get a shot at the big ship you can bring down and they can't ( I sail a War Galleon) and getting between you and your target making it hard for you to get a shot in is just rude
I usually change servers when there are shadowers following me around.
I too try to help a low level on land, and sometimes at sea, I like healing them and allowing them to defeat the higher targets to level up, but not all appreciate it :0, so if they fire on me or swing a sword at me I back off and let them fend for themselves.
