If you look closely, there is a dark circle on the ground, that still reflects the mobs tag (ie veteran lvl 1x) at least usually. Whats happening is somehow they are going underground, and attacking us, where we cannot attack them back. I have started moving backwards a few steps until they pop back up to my level where I can attack them.
Its definately a pain, I hope they fix it!!!
