The tricky thing about this daily stat is how many accounts (owning and using 1-4 pirates) are active from one household versus how many pirates logged in and done something to be recorded by the Leaderboard.

Last post was in November of last year one month before Ship Customization was released to live servers. After 7 months of players making the most of that and some quitting again until more content is released, what are the daily numbers today?

I did some research on that. On average, according to the stats, some 9200-9400 pirates were actively playing from Monday to Friday. Sometimes it dips to 7800. On weekends though, some 10,000-11,000 pirates were actively playing. Sometimes it spikes up past 12,000. This holds true for holidays.

Still, those are just pirates that logged in and did something, somewhere in those xx-# of oceans. And if Full servers are capped at 1000 pirates, Ideal at 750, and Quiet at 500 or less, then that would fairly be accurate. How many humans were actually playing would be fewer than those stats. Fewer still would be the number of players actually paying to keep on playing. Most people just check it out and then leave. Basics have a tendency to not play on a regular basis for obvious reasons.

So how important is it for us to encourage people to have fun and keep playing? A lot. A happy experience will encourage players to stick around and pay eventually. That's a community-building measure that players are responsible for. POTCO can only do so much with their game, but without the people investing their fortunate and time to play it and energy to build on those friendships, everyone stands to lose in the end.
