Padres Ducks can doc right away and be almost dead so it doesnt matter if they take a lot of damage
My guess on 2 is Lighting being used by someone on that ship - sometimes when my crew fire lighting the flash actually is around my ship (no damage though to us).
There was an update today and I didn't sail - so 3 could be part of the update...
